Mrs. Hayes's expression shifted slightly. Ruined the gown?

The only people who had brought the gown upstairs that day, aside from the staff, was Vivienne.

The Hayes family always maintained strict rules. The staff would never dare pull a stunt like that, which meant the only possible culprit was Vivienne.

Dante's face darkened. He looked at Quinn, then turned his gaze to Vivienne.

"Vivienne, what exactly is going on?"

Vivienne paled but forced herself to stay calm, looking at Dante with wide, innocent eyes.

"Dante, I have no idea. Quinn, what in the world are you talking about?"

Quinn replied flatly, "You're the one who ruined my dress."

"I wasn't the only one who had access to the gown. How can you be so sure it was me?" Vivienne continued to deflect.

Quinn stared at Vivienne with a razor-sharp gaze. "Still denying it? The outer stitching on all three gowns was perfectly intact. The only threads cut were the internal load-bearing seams, specifically targeted at the bodice—the easiest place to snap."

"Such an intricate method couldn't be pulled off by an ordinary person, nor by anyone who didn't understand structural dress design."

"Only a professional designer deeply familiar with haute couture stitching and the exact placement of tension points could execute it so flawlessly."

Quinn's fierce gaze was pinned on Vivienne's face as she stepped closer. "Vivienne, as a professionally trained designer, do you dare say this wasn't your handiwork?"

"You must have really hoped I would be careless enough not to check it, and just wear the gown straight to the banquet, didn't you?"

Quinn sneered as she laid out Vivienne's exact scheme. "Then the seams would burst in public, I'd expose myself, make a total fool of myself, and my reputation would be ruined forever."

Vivienne's insidious trick would have easily gone unnoticed by a regular person. But as a fashion designer herself, Quinn only needed one brief look to tell something was wrong.

Fortunately, she had spotted it. Otherwise, she would have already become the laughingstock of the party.

"Cut the inner seams?"

Dante furrowed his brows. He wasn't stupid; he knew exactly what the consequences of a bursting gown would be.

"Dante, don't listen to Quinn's nonsense. How could I ever do something like that?" Vivienne tilted her face up, tears pooling in her eyes.
