When Quinn reached the underground parking garage, she spotted Raymond leaning casually against his SUV in the distance.
If he had been waiting here for her this whole time, sitting there for hours on end, it must have been incredibly boring.
"Didn't I tell you to head home first?"
Quinn felt a pang of guilt, though she was overwhelmingly grateful for his patience. "I'm sorry. If I'd known you were waiting, I would have come down much earlier."
"It's fine."
Through his dark shades, Raymond's gaze lingered on her briefly before he looked away and pulled open the driver's side door.
"Let's go back," Quinn said, buckling her seatbelt.
"You didn't drink tonight, did you?" Raymond asked in a low voice, glancing at her through the rearview mirror.
"I didn't. You're right, with my condition, I shouldn't be drinking."
Moreover, she had only attended tonight because of an agreement with Dante's mother. All the glory and prestige belonged entirely to Dante and the Hayes family; it had nothing to do with her.
She had nothing to celebrate, and certainly no reason to drink.
Raymond was privately satisfied with her answer, though his expression remained neutral. He started the engine and steered the car out of the basement.
When Silas Vance walked up to Dante, Dante was still glaring furiously at the elevators.
It was where Quinn had just vanished.
"Mr. Hayes, let me drive you home."
Dante nodded, withdrawing his gaze. His face was grim and deeply cold.
Silas had already brought the car up from the garage and parked it outside the hotel's main entrance.
As Dante stepped out of the hotel and prepared to get into his car, he watched a black BMW SUV drive past him.
Through the rolled-down window, he caught the profiles of Raymond and Quinn.
The fists at his sides clenched involuntarily.
Silas saw Quinn's car as well and could feel the explosive fury radiating from Dante, making the air crackle with tension.
Once they got in, the atmosphere inside the car plummeted to a suffocating low.
