Quinn smiled, deciding to be honest with Lillian. "Actually, I chose this place not just because of the beautiful scenery. My late mother loved this area. Setting up a studio here is my way of fulfilling her final wish."
At the mention of her mother, a trace of deep sorrow flickered in Quinn's eyes. She was so caught up in missing her mother that she entirely missed the heavy, fleeting emotion that crossed Lillian's face.
Lillian and her mentor's older apprentice—Quinn's mother—were only two years apart. When they were young and learning the craft together, they ate and lived side-by-side, sharing a bond as close as real sisters. Lillian knew perfectly well how much her friend loved Sapphire Lake and how she had always dreamed of opening a small tailoring shop here to showcase her art.
But that man, Mr. Yates, never supported her career. He completely looked down on her craftsmanship.
Even though the Yates Family had plenty of money, he refused to buy her a small storefront here to help her realize her dream.
Just like that, her dear friend was caged like a canary in a wealthy household.
In that regard alone, Quinn was much stronger than her mother. At the very least, she didn't abandon her career for a man. She had her own studio and her own dreams.
Quinn's studio was laid out cleanly and efficiently. Her team had clear roles, and everyone was entirely focused on their tasks. The work environment felt incredibly positive.
Looking at the finished custom dresses hanging on the racks, it was obvious Quinn had a solid stream of orders coming in.
A satisfied smile tugged at the corners of Lillian's lips.
But then a wave of worry washed over her. Would Quinn's billionaire husband eventually ruin her career?
The smile vanished from her face in an instant.
"Here is some tea, Ms. Quincy," Sarah Sterling said, handing her a delicate cup of floral tea.
"How are your preparations for the semi-finals coming along?" Lillian asked.
Quinn led Lillian over to the drafting and production area. "Ms. Quincy, we are currently in the middle of modifying and constructing two pieces."
