Quinn's eyes widened in sheer astonishment as she looked at Raymond.
Any normal person facing a potential bigamy charge would be scrambling to run away and sever ties with her as quickly as possible.
Yet Raymond wasn't afraid at all; instead, his dark eyes held a distinct amusement—a relaxed, almost wicked smirk playing on his lips.
"I can't exactly lie to a judge, can I?"
Quinn couldn't comprehend how this man was so utterly fearless. She tried to emphasize the severity of the situation. "Do you realize that once a case is filed, it will massively impact your future? You'll have a criminal record."
"We're only in a contract marriage anyway. Don't you think paying such a price is too..."
Before she could finish, the man leaned in even closer.
"You sounded pretty sweet calling me 'Husband' at noon. Why are you in such a rush to cut ties now?"
Quinn froze, embarrassment instantly flooding her face.
The memory of her grabbing Raymond and kissing him at the coffee shop crashed back into her mind.
"I'm sorry. I only put on that act to provoke him so he'd stop pestering me."
"Well, it seems our prior practice paid off."
Quinn blinked, not quite catching his meaning.
"Because we've practiced and gotten familiar with each other before, your acting was incredibly natural."
"So, try calling me 'Husband' again!"
The man's voice was deep and hypnotic, sending a tingling sensation straight down Quinn's spine.
Her ears burned all over again.
To make matters worse, he had planted both hands on the sofa on either side of her, effectively caging her in with overwhelming masculine dominance.
That "Husband" had been purely for Dante's benefit. Now that it was just the two of them in the living room, there was no way she could say it out loud.
Quinn looked into Raymond's dark, intense eyes, secretly wondering if he was still holding a grudge over her 'infidelity' to his beloved *Cullinan*.
He was probably just spouting all this nonsense because he was furious.
Quinn pushed against his chest, her gaze darting away in panic as her ears turned beet red.
"I'm sorry, Raymond. I didn't mean to cross your boundaries. Don't worry, I'll never do that to you again."
She meant to spin around and flee the suffocatingly intimate atmosphere the second the words left her mouth.
