Quinn smiled softly. "Not really, it was manageable. I got off right on time to pick Leo up from school."

"Dad!"

Right on cue, Leo shoved his face in front of the camera, fighting for the spotlight.

"Are you super tired today? Did you miss me?"

The corner of Raymond's mouth tipped up slightly. "Not tired at all."

"And of course I missed you."

Leo repeated the same line he had used every single night: "Dad, come home soon! I miss you so much!"

"I promise, just a few more days. I'll make sure to bring you back a present!"

The little boy's eyes lit up like fireworks, and he clapped his hands in sheer delight. "Yay! I'm gonna hold you to that!"

In reality, Quinn had already booked a flight to Harbor Heights for the very next morning, but she purposely kept it a secret during the call.

Her plan was to finish attending the fashion gala and then hunt him down to give him the ultimate surprise.

Early the next morning, Quinn dropped Leo off at kindergarten, called Tara one last time to confirm the babysitting details, and boarded her flight to Harbor Heights.

The fashion gala was a daytime event. Wandering through the exhibits, Quinn crossed paths with numerous industry titans. She absorbed an incredible amount of inspiration and made some highly valuable connections.

What she hadn't anticipated, however, was running directly into Mrs. Carlisle.

Mrs. Carlisle looked equally shocked to see her. "Quinn! I had no idea you were coming to this!"

"Mrs. Carlisle, what brings you here?" Quinn asked, breaking into a bright, welcoming smile.

"I tagged along with my husband. He has some overly important banquet to attend tonight, and I was bored out of my mind today. I heard there was a massive fashion show happening, so I figured I'd pop in for a look."
