Seeing Raymond lower his gaze in thought, Victor assumed his words had hit the mark.

Striking while the iron was hot, he added, "If you don't have anyone in mind, my wife knows plenty of high-society heiresses. We can arrange introductions."

Raymond's lips barely moved. "No need."

Hearing the instant rejection, both Victor and Caleb exchanged anxious looks.

Their boss was notoriously ascetic. During his entire time away, countless socialites and A-list celebrities had thrown themselves at him, and he hadn't spared them a single glance.

Getting a man with zero interest in romance to suddenly marry and have a child was going to be a nightmare.

Knowing better than to push his luck, Victor smiled and tried to pivot.

"Well, since you're already here, why not stay for a drink?"

Raymond checked his watch and stood up.

"Next time."

She had told him to be back before midnight. If he was late, she absolutely wouldn't leave the door unlocked for him.

After coaxing Leo to sleep and taking a long shower, Quinn walked downstairs and leaned against the floor-to-ceiling window, staring out at the blanket of stars.

Holding the divorce certificate earlier had felt like taking a massive breath of fresh air, but she knew the storm wasn't over.

The Yates Family was going to be a nightmare.

Mrs. Hayes had been right about one thing: her family dynamic was toxic, and her background was a mess.

Things had been fine when her mother was alive, but after she turned thirteen, the Yates household became a living hell of humiliation.

Her father only cared about corporate profits; if he found out she had divorced Dante, he would explode.

Yasmine and her mother would immediately start scheming to use her.

She couldn't afford to play defense.

"Yeah. During the holidays, he secretly told me he just wanted a paper marriage to get his family off his back."

"But Quinn, he is leagues beneath you. Are you sure you don't want to look around?"

A paper marriage. That was exactly what she needed. Quinn's eyes lit up.

"Could you reach out to him? Set up a meeting for next week..."

Before she could finish her sentence, a massive hand shot out of the shadows, terrifying her.

In the blink of an eye, those long, powerful fingers snatched the wine glass right out of her hand.

She jerked her head up. The dim light caught the sharp, breathtaking angles of Raymond's face.

He looked dangerous, his jaw set in cold fury.

The intoxicating scent of crisp cedar washed over her. His dark, predatory gaze burned into hers, swirling with an intense, suffocating emotion she couldn't begin to decipher.

Completely forgetting the phone still pressed to her ear, Quinn's lips parted in shock at his sudden ambush.
