Two days later, Quinn and Raymond returned to Riverton.

The mornings at Lunas Crest lacked the chaotic hustle of Harbor Heights, but they were incredibly warm and peaceful.

In the master bedroom, Raymond had his arms wrapped tightly around Quinn from behind. Even in his sleep, he held onto her like a lifeline, as if terrified she would vanish the second he let go.

Since it was the weekend, Leo didn't have preschool.

Out in the hallway, the little boy padded up to their door in his slippers.

He politely knocked three times.

"Dad, Mom, are you awake?"

Raymond woke up first. He gently pulled the covers up over Quinn's shoulders, then quietly walked over and cracked the door open.

"Shh."

Raymond placed a finger over his lips.

"Mom is still sleeping. I'll take you downstairs first."

Leo nodded obediently, peeking through the gap to see that his mom was indeed fast asleep.

Raymond took the boy outside to skateboard for nearly an hour. When they returned, Quinn was already washed up and walking downstairs in her pajamas.

"Mom, you're finally awake!"

"Yeah. Come on, let's have breakfast."

Quinn sat at the table, spooning a bit of oatmeal into her bowl with a soft smile. "When did you wake up, sweetie?"

"A long time ago."

"When I went to get you, Dad told me you were too tired and needed more sleep."

The little boy frowned, tilting his head in confusion.

"Mom, why are you always so tired lately? You used to wake up early even when you worked super late!"

"Cough! Cough!"

Caught completely off guard by the innocent interrogation, Quinn choked on her oatmeal.
