As if sensing her gaze, Raymond looked over his shoulder, catching her distracted stare.
"Take a seat over there. We'll leave as soon as I get the meds."
Quinn nodded and sat down in one of the waiting chairs.
She pulled out her phone and sent a text to Tara Moore.
[Tara, are you free this afternoon?]
Tara replied almost instantly. [Yeah, what's up?]
[I have some things I need to ask you. Meet me at Sensation Coffee at three.]
Tara sent back an "OK" emoji.
Raymond quickly returned with the medication. Since half the day was already gone and she still had things to handle at the studio, she turned to him.
"Drop me off at Aura Studio."
"Alright."
Raymond started the car and drove her toward Sapphire Lake.
As they drove, the flashing shadows of streetlights and trees drifted through the windows. Sitting in the passenger seat, Quinn watched the shifting light play across Raymond's profile.
"Raymond."
She suddenly called his name.
He kept his eyes fixed on the road, responding with a simple hum. "Hmm?"
The slight upward inflection of his incredibly deep, gorgeous voice echoed slightly in the quiet cabin.
His voice flowed like dark velvet straight into her ears, utterly intoxicating.
Quinn reached over and cracked the window, letting the rush of cool wind blow against her face, somewhat settling the heavy knot in her chest.
"We've been married for a while now, but I still haven't met your family."
"I know we originally got married just to get them off your back."
"But things are different now. We're in a real marriage."
Quinn watched him closely, desperately trying to catch even the slightest shift in his expression.
"When are you going to introduce me to them?"
A flicker of something unreadable flashed in his dark eyes, but he kept his composure flawless.
"Why the sudden interest? Are you eager to meet them?"
Quinn just suddenly realized how terrifyingly little she actually knew about the man she was sleeping next to every night.
