The next morning, Raymond left for work exceptionally early.
Caleb had been parked outside the Lunas Crest gates a full thirty minutes ahead of schedule.
Spotting his boss approaching, he scrambled out of the driver's seat and respectfully held the rear door open.
Only after Raymond settled into the luxurious leather did Caleb start the engine, steering the car smoothly toward Moretti Global Holdings.
As they cruised down the highway, Caleb kept stealing nervous, judgmental glances through the rearview mirror.
"Spit it out. Stop sneaking looks at me."
Raymond's glacial voice suddenly sliced through the silence.
Caleb couldn't help but marvel at the man's terrifying intuition.
He had barely glanced up twice, and he was already caught?
Clearing his throat, Caleb braced himself. "Boss, I told you a long time ago... being the other man is a deeply shameful path."
"How could you just outright steal someone else's wife and kid?!"
Raymond lazily lifted his heavy eyelids, his dark, freezing gaze locking onto the back of Caleb's head.
"Caleb."
"Yeah?" Caleb replied, entirely oblivious to the lethal danger in the air.
"Are you begging to be shipped off to the most remote outpost we have?"
The casually delivered threat sent a violent shudder down Caleb's spine.
"No, no! Boss, I didn't say a word!"
"Please don't send me away!"

When Quinn woke up, the space beside her was entirely cold.
She rubbed her sleepy eyes, slowly piecing together the morning.
He left for work this early?
Flashing back to last night, she recalled being in an exhausted, hazy blur when he whispered against her ear that he had an early start and she would need to drop Leo off at kindergarten.
As she sat up, the duvet slipped from her shoulders.
Her breath hitched as she stared at the dark, scattered bruises littering her skin, blooming heaviest across her chest.
A furious blush exploded across her cheeks.
Glancing at the full-length mirror in the corner, a vivid flash of what they had done right in front of the glass sent her spiraling into a pit of sheer mortification.
