As soon as Florence finished her tirade, Victor Wilde, a highly respected veteran board member, interjected.
"Florence, there's no need to make things so hostile."
"Arthur has already guaranteed that Dante will hold a permanent seat on the board and continue to pull massive dividends. His contributions will be handsomely rewarded."
But the diplomatic reassurance did absolutely nothing to extinguish the raging inferno of Florence's ego. She sneered coldly.
"Dante has bled for this company. He managed the Hayes empire while single-handedly keeping Moretti Global afloat! He poured his absolute soul into this business. The Chairman seat belongs to him!"
Throughout the screaming match, Raymond remained slouched lazily in his plush leather chair. His flawlessly tailored black suit only amplified his glacial, terrifyingly calm aura.
His lips were pressed into a flat line, his dark eyes half-closed, acting as if the explosive war raging across the table bored him to tears.
But deep within those obsidian eyes, a lethal, predatory coldness was lying in wait.
Across from him, Dante, who had been sitting in stoic silence, finally raised his eyes, locking dead onto Raymond.
A smug, mocking smirk slowly twisted Dante's lips as he spoke with a deliberate, arrogant drawl.
"Raymond, it's not that I want to forcefully steal this from you."
"But reality is a numbers game. I hold more shares than you do. Per the corporate bylaws, the Chairman seat defaults to me. It's just business."
The moment the words left Dante's mouth, a dead silence instantly suffocated the boardroom.
Every single pair of eyes aggressively snapped toward Raymond, waiting for the explosion.
Raymond rested his large hands casually on the polished mahogany, his gaze dark and entirely unbothered. There wasn't a trace of panic in his posture.
He slowly looked up, meeting Dante's arrogant stare head-on.
"Equity is indeed the ultimate weapon. But what makes you so delusional to think my shares amount to less than yours?"
Hearing Raymond's bored, effortless tone, Dante let out a harsh bark of laughter.
