Instead, she reached up and gently patted his back.

"I didn't expect us to be kindred spirits."

Motherless children were like weeds, and the two of them were just weeds that had survived a violent storm.

Raymond completely froze.

He seemed entirely incapable of processing what she was doing.

Trapped in her embrace, he couldn't move a muscle.

Down by his feet, a tiny, soft little boy was mirroring his mother's actions to the best of his ability.

Opening his chubby little arms, Leo tightly hugged Raymond's calf.

He pursed his lips and made a sweet, blowing sound.

"Raymond, blow on it!~"

Whenever he fell down or accidentally hurt himself, his mommy would blow on the scrape to make it better.

So, he wanted to blow on Raymond's pain to help it heal.

That way, Raymond would be all better.

Surrounded by the mother and son's embrace, Raymond felt a flicker of awkwardness, but the heart that had never been particularly warm was suddenly soothed and heated by their touch.

Over the years, people had occasionally shown him kindness.

But that kindness had always come with strings attached and hidden agendas.

This was different.

They genuinely pitied and ached for the motherly love he had never known.

Without realizing it, he lifted his own arms, wrapping one hand around her waist and resting the other gently on the child's head.

The tender moment was violently shattered by an infuriated voice.

"What the hell are you doing?"

Thirty feet away, Dante stood with a face like thunder, storming toward them in a blind rage.

He reached out, violently yanking Quinn and the boy away from Raymond and pulling them to his side.

"Quinn, what is wrong with you, hugging another man like that?"

"In front of your own child!"

"Don't project your dirty mind onto everyone else, Dante!"

"Did you care about shame when you were rolling around in bed with Vivienne? What right do you have to judge me?"

Hearing her explode with anger, Dante stood frozen in shock.

For years, he had been a titan in Riverton, admired and feared. People bowed to him; no one dared raise their voice at him unless they had a death wish.

But as he stared into her eyes—eyes brimming with undisguised contempt and hatred—his boiling anger was suddenly replaced by a creeping thread of panic.

Desperate, he repeated his defense. "I told you, that time with her was an accident!"

"Enough, Dante. In front of my mother, keep your mouth shut and stop bringing up your filthy affairs!" Quinn snapped, her patience completely shattered.

"I came here to pay my respects today, and you're the one ruining it."

What man could tolerate his wife clinging to another man?

Quinn glanced at the flowers in Dante's hand and let out a cold scoff. "I asked you to come with me on this exact day last year, but you were too busy taking your precious first love to the dentist. What a rare honor for you to show up today."

"My mother cherished me when she was alive. She would never want to see me suffer."

"If she's watching from above, I know she fully supports me divorcing you."
