She Became Exactly What They Wished For novel Chapter 21

Chapter 21

A deafening sound erupted on the street.

The screech of twisting metal and shattering glass pierced through their eardrums

Lawrence’s car was instantly mangled and wrecked, while Candice’s car was hit so hard it flipped onto its side crashing heavily to the ground and billowing thick smoke,

Maryann stood unharmed where she was, still shaken and in shock,

“Mary!” Darian pulled Maryann into his arms, his voice full of concern. “Are you alright? Are you hurt anywhere?”

Maryann shook her head blankly, staring at the chaos before her.

The world seemed to come to a standstill.

Maryann’s face was ashen, her heart pounding violently.

She walked over slowly, looking at the twisted car door, where all the airbags had deployed, stained with fresh blood.

Lawrence was slumped against the seat, blood streaming from his temple, his face pale as paper, but his eyes were fixed on her without blinking.

“You’re alright, that’s such a relief…”

With those words, he completely lost consciousness.

“Lawrence!…”

The wailing of ambulances and police cars tore through the sky.

Outside the emergency room, Maryann stood listening to the anxious voices of the nurses.

“The patient is hemorrhaging badly, we need an emergency transfusion! The blood bank is running low-does anyone have a matching blood type?…”

“I do.”

Maryann spoke softly.

She followed the nurse into the blood collection room.

When the needle pierced her vein, she didn’t even flinch.

It wasn’t until 120 milliliters had been drawn that they finally stopped.

Maryann swayed unsteadily, and in the next moment, Darian caught her firmly, soothing her gently: “Don’t worry, everything will be alright. Don’t put so much pressure on yourself.”

Maryann nodded blankly.

In the end, after struggling at death’s door for eight hours, Lawrence was out of danger.

As his consciousness gradually returned, he could feel someone carefully wiping his body, moistening his cracked lips with a water-dipped cotton swab, and gently pressing to soothe him whenever he trembled from pain.

It had to be Maryann; only she would do such things.

So he grasped her fingers, murmuring hoarsely.

“Mary… I’m sorry…”

“I was such a jerk, I didn’t treat you well…”

“Don’t go, please…”
