“Alright.” Dominic took the form and filled it out with care.
Five minutes later, he handed the resume back. “Done.”
George glanced over it and let out a light chuckle. “Thirty years old, no work experience, heh…”
Hearing the open mockery, Dominic frowned slightly, but he understood it. A man who had reached 30 without ever holding a job was bound to be looked down on.
“What are your salary expectations?” George asked casually as he set the form aside.
“Just follow the company’s performance policy,” Dominic replied. “I do have one condition. I need to finish work at four in the afternoon. I’m willing to give up the base pay for that.”
“Four in the afternoon?” George said impatiently. “Are you joking with me?”
Dominic felt a surge of helplessness. He had to take care of Lilith, which meant he could only get off work at 4:00 p.m. That constraint was also one of the main reasons his job search kept hitting dead ends.
George crossed one leg over the other and spoke with clear disdain. “Alright. Strictly speaking, your conditions don’t meet our company’s requirements. Go home and wait for notification. We’ll call you if there’s a result.”
Dominic shook his head. “Mr. Williams, I suggest you call Miss Wright before making a final decision.”
At this point, leaving was not a problem for him. Autumn had brought him here, and if she found out how this ended, George would be in very serious trouble.
Dominic had no interest in that sort of drama, though, so he offered the reminder and nothing more.
George froze for a moment and stared at him, uncertainty creeping into his expression.
He grumbled inwardly, ‘This guy is so handsome… He wouldn’t really have some special relationship with Miss Wright, would he?
Clearing his throat, he said, “Wait here.”
He stepped out with his phone, found a quiet corner, and called Jewel.
“Miss Wright, I just interviewed Mr. Fleming…”
“Which Mr. Fleming?” The voice on the other end sounded pleasant, yet as cold as ever.
George hurried on. “The one who came with Miss Autumn.”
“Hm?”
George immediately reported Dominic’s background and his conditions.
Jewel fell silent for a few seconds before replying coolly, “Agree to it.”
She wanted to see what kind of “friend” this 30–year–old man really was to her niece
After hanging up, George let out a long breath From Jewel’s tone, he could tell that Dominic had no special relationship with her at all. They did not even seem to know each other.
Back in the office, George put on a smile. “Mr. Fleming, congratulations Please prepare your medical report and a copy of your ID, then come sign your employment contract before Wednesday”
“Alright, Mr. Williams.” Dominic nodded and shook his hand. He noticed keenly that despite the smile, George’s eyes held no warmth.
Chapter 11
After leaving the office, Dominic smiled at Autumn. “Let’s go.”
“How was it?” Autumn asked, her voice tense.
Dominic chuckled. “No problem. I’ll come in on Wednesday.”
“I meant, did that guy give you trouble?”
