Jessica ignored Dominic, but when Lilith confronted her, she could not hold back. “Hey, how can you talk to Mommy like that?”
The girl snorted. “You’re not my mommy. You’re Jessica. My mommy is Isabella.”
Jessica realized she was getting nowhere and felt a flicker of disappointment. She pressed on anyway. “It’s fine. You’ll have two mommies in the future. I’ll definitely treat you better than Isabella.”
Lilith fired back furiously, “My ass!”
The little girl even swore, which made her dislike painfully clear.
Jessica did not care. She kept teasing her without restraint.
The meal ended with the two of them snapping at each other across the table.
When they finished eating, Lilith did not want to see Jessica anymore. She grabbed her phone, dashed into her room, and
slammed the door shut.
Jessica giggled. “She’s not going to tattle on me, right?”
“No,” Dominic said calmly. He knew his daughter well.
Lilith probably would not tattle, but she was likely plotting how to reclaim her position with Jessica. Today’s mealtime clash counted as a narrow loss for Lilith.
“All right. The meal’s over. Time to handle business,” Dominic said. “Which room will you be in?”
Jessica dragged her suitcase around and inspected the house.
Dominic frowned. “You’re not planning to sleep in my room, are you? Do you really think that’s possible?”
“Why not?” Jessica’s eyes widened in disbelief. “You’re really going to separate from me?”
Dominic pointed calmly toward a guest room. “You can sleep there. It has its own bathroom. Don’t come out unless necessary.”
As his gaze lingered on the room, Dominic’s eyes twitched. That was Charlotte’s old room.
Jessica looked crestfallen. She hesitated for a long time, then reluctantly tossed her suitcase inside.
Moments later, she came back out,
“Ugh, I’m exhausted. Dominic, you didn’t even help me. My back and waist hurt so much. Don’t you care at all?”
Dominic sat on the sofa and scrolled through short videos. He looked up, speechless. “The suitcase isn’t heavy, and it has wheels. How are you tired?”
Jessica’s eyes shifted as she replied with exaggerated seriousness, “It’s not just one suitcase. I’m carrying a heavy load.”
“What heavy load?” Dominic stared at her. Aside from the suitcase, she had brought nothing else.
“Hehe…” Jessica smiled flirtatiously and gestured toward herself. “They’re really heavy. Why don’t you hold them for me? Then I won’t be so tired.”
What kind of outrageous nonsense was this? Dominic glanced at her and tell utterly helpless.
On second thought, she must have grown up under unusual circumstances. At 19, she was easily three to five times stronger than her peers. Even Katherine would lose to her.
When he ignored her, Jessica lost interest and sat beside him on the sofa, pressing close. “Dominic, why are you getting a divorce?”

Dominic frowned. “That’s none of your business. And move your hand. Show some respect.”
He shifted slightly to the side.
