Alexander’s voice carried a note of smug triumph.

This time, he was not afraid of Dominic running to complain to Isabella. First, they were already divorced. Second, he believed Isabella’s feelings for him now outweighed whatever she still felt for Dominic.

He rolled his wheelchair forward and flashed Isabella a bright, sunny smile. “I’m really sorry for making you worry, Bella!”

Isabella looked at him in silence. After a long pause, she slowly nodded. “Mm–hmm. I was worried. Worried that what you did went too far, and that I wouldn’t be able to get you out.”

Alexander let out a soft sigh. “I’m fine, Bella. Even if I had gone to prison, I would still have thought of you.”

A faint smile curved Isabella’s lips. “Don’t say something so foolish. How could I ever let you go to prison?”

Alexander nodded, but his heart suddenly skipped a beat. Something about Isabella’s smile felt strange, almost eerie.

“Let’s go.” Isabella stepped forward and personally took hold of his wheelchair.

The gesture left Alexander feeling both flattered and overwhelmed. “I can do it myself, Bella.”

Despite his words, he did not lift a finger, calmly enjoying the moment.

Isabella pushed him quietly toward an off–road vehicle. Two men immediately stepped out and lifted Alexander into the car.

Soon, the vehicle began to move.

Alexander froze, then pointed outside. “My wheelchair—”

“You won’t need it anymore,” one of the men replied flatly.

Isabella did not get into the car. Instead, she drove off in her own Porsche.

Before long, Alexander was carried into a room.

He asked cautiously, “What… Where is this?”

“Your destination.” Isabella walked in as she spoke.

Alexander’s face brightened. “Why did you bring me here, Bella? I—”

Isabella did not seem to hear him. Her gaze fixed on his hands. “Was it the left hand, or the right hand? It looks like… you used

both.”

Alexander stiffened. A terrifying suspicion took shape in his mind.

Cold sweat streamed down his forehead as he forced out a dry laugh. “What are you talking about, Bella? I don’t understand.”

“No, you do.” Isabella lifted her hand in a casual gesture.

At once, a man stepped forward holding a hammer.

The moment Alexander saw the pitch–black iron hammer, his expression collapsed. “What are you doing?”

His face turned ashen as he hurried to explain. “Bella! You must have misunderstood something. Tell me what it is. I can explain everything-”

At that point, Isabella no longer listened. What had happened could not be undone. “Do it.”
