After Dominic left, he packed his belongings and went to HR to handle his termination.
He was in the middle of speaking with them when Jewel suddenly walked in and said, “You’re not allowed to process it.”
Dominic looked up, frowning.
Jewel’s eyes were red from crying. She said, “Dominic, I think… we need to talk.”
He was surprised that she could even bring herself to say it, but he shook his head without hesitation. “There’s no need to talk. Everyone has to take responsibility for their actions, and you’re no exception.”
He stood and added, “If you won’t process it, fine. Treat it as a voluntary departure. My salary can still be credited to my account.
Jewel stared at him in a daze.
This time, Dominic brushed past her without slowing down.
She remained standing there for a long while until an HR staff member cautiously called her name and snapped her back to reality. By then, Dominic was already gone.
She could only return to her office alone. At that moment, she finally admitted that she had made a mistake. A man so resolute, someone who even held Andriana in such high regard, could never be swayed by softness.
Yet when she thought of the humiliation she had just endured, Jewel felt deeply wronged. She had upheld her principles her entire life. She was nearly 35 years old and had never even been in a proper relationship, let alone been treated by a man in this
manner.
With that thought, she buried her face in her desk and stifled her sobs.
Dominic did not spare her another thought. After finishing packing, he left the office. Sitting in his car, he checked the time and
sent a message to Autumn.
She replied almost immediately, saying she was about to head out to find him.
Dominic smiled. They really were on the same wavelength. He told her to wait at home instead.
He then drove to the villa halfway up the hill.
Before reaching the gate, he spotted Autumn standing outside.
“Dominic, why are you here so early today?” Autumn asked with a smile as she got into the car.
Dominic gestured toward the back seat. “No work today.”
“Huh?” Autumn glanced at the small suitcase and widened her eyes. “What’s going on?”
Dominic waved it off. “Nothing. I just didn’t feel like going to work.”
Autumn frowned. “That’s not right. Dominic, you’re not someone who quits on a whim. Did… my aunt give you trouble?”
“I just didn’t want to go.”
“Something’s wrong. I’m calling my aunt.” Autumn’s expression turned serious as she pulled out her phone.
She really was sharp. Dominic quickly took her hand and smiled. “Hey, don’t overthink it. Let’s eat first.”
Autumn hesitated, then nodded.

They went to a nearby restaurant.

It was their first time eating at a restaurant with foreign cuisine together. Soft violin music drifted through the air, giving the moment a faint sense of a date.
Autumn felt shy and lowered her head.
Then her phone rang, shattering the mood.
She checked the screen and froze. “My aunt’s calling?”
