Zachary stared at Dominic, his voice cold. “You’ve got a lot of nerve, brat.”
Dominic spoke without warning. “I heard you have a younger brother named Alexander Grant, and a stepmother named Mary Grant. Is that true?”
Zachary’s expression changed instantly at the sound of those names. “Nonsense!”
He even pointed a finger at Dominic. “What? Who told you that? How dare you mention them? Are you courting death?”
“The reaction was strange. So Alexander and Mary really did have ties to the Grants…‘ Dominic kept his expression calm, though his thoughts raced. He would need to find a way to deal with the Grants of Skyline City.
At that moment, Jewel spoke up, her tone sharp with anger. “Zachary, Mr. Fleming is also my friend. That was completely out of line.”
Zachary’s pupils tightened. He drew a deep breath to suppress his fury and forced a smile. “Jewel, I won’t lower myself to his level. Since you’ve spoken, I’ll extend you this courtesy.”
The Hale family’s protection would not last forever, and given Dominic’s background, the Hales would never truly take him
seriously.
A harsh glint flashed in Zachary’s eyes. Once Jewel no longer stood in the way, it would be time to deal with Dominic. For now, patience would suffice.
Dominic’s face remained composed, though he quietly weighed his next move.
Jewel stood and said, “Zachary, I appreciate your kindness. However, since JewelMed has changed its structure, Mr. Fleming and I have agreed not to accept outside investors. I can only apologize.”
Dominic rose as well.
Zachary’s gaze darkened, though he maintained his smile. “Jewel, at least finish your meal before you go.”
Jewel glanced at her watch. “We still have other matters to attend to, so we’ll take our leave.”
Given how close things had come to turning ugly, staying for the meal would have ruined the atmosphere.
After they left, Zachary’s smile slowly stiffened.
Moments later, he erupted. He swept the plates and cutlery from the table with one violent motion.
The waiter rushed in at the noise and froze at the sight of the mess.
“Get out!” Zachary roared, his voice hoarse.
The waiter did not dare speak and quickly retreated.
Zachary panted, murderous intent burning in his eyes. He ground his teeth. “Dominic, just you wait. Jewel will be mine, and your ex–wife will be mine too.”
Dominic and Jewel returned to the car
After some thought, Jewel said, “Dominte, don’t take it personally. Zachary is the heir of the Grants of Skyline City, after all.”
Her meaning was obvious. The Grants were powerful, and it was best not to provoke them.
Dominic smiled. “I know what I’m doing,”

The Grants of Skyline City were exactly who he intended to face. He had now confirmed that Alexander and Mary were connected to the Grants. Action was inevitable. Elijah and Zachary both had to die.
He shifted the topic with a grin. “That said, weren’t you tempted by Zachary’s offer earlier? Connections, money, and no demand for shares. Quite generous.”
Jewel frowned. “Can you stop bringing up things you know I can’t help thinking about? If I really had that thought, what you think wouldn’t matter.”
“What do you mean it wouldn’t matter what I think?” Dominic’s eyes widened. “Jewel, we’re just partners. Don’t say things that could cause misunderstandings.”
Jewel’s face flushed, and she raised a hand in frustration. “You’re impossible. I swear.”
“Stop it. I’m driving,” Dominic said quickly.
Jewel shot him a sharp look, playful charm flickering in her eyes. “Let’s see if you dare say something ridiculous again.”
Dominic laughed. “All right, all right. I’ll behave.”
“That’s better,‘ Jewel thought, though unease lingered. “I know Zachary’s temperament. He’s domineering. If he wants something, he won’t let it go so easily.”
