Chapter 310
Ezra’s eyes lit up as he laughed.
“Holy shit, your salary’s that high? Guess I’ve got to butcher you properly today, then?” he said and sat down.
Dominic noticed the tension running through Ezra’s entire body, coiled tight, as if he could spring up and bolt at any second.
Despite the smile on his face, Ezra’s peripheral vision kept sweeping the room. He was already on guard.
Dominic sighed inwardly. ‘A veteran criminal investigator, just as expected.‘
Ezra wasted no words. The bespectacled, refined man glanced their way once, then calmly returned to his meal.
Dominic picked up the menu, ordered a few dishes in an offhand manner, then typed on his phone: [Front left. The man in the gray suit with glasses is the murderer.]
Ezra’s pupils contracted. He had assumed they were still chasing a lead. He never imagined the murderer would be sitting right there. What a gift from the universe.
Ezra flicked a glance in that direction, pulled out a cigarette, and smiled. “Mind if I borrow your lighter?”
Dominic patted his pockets and shook his head. “Damn it. Must’ve lost mine.”
Ezra put on a helpless look, stood up, walked over to the man in the gray suit, and said, “Hey, man. Could you lend me a light?”
A flicker of caution crossed the man’s eyes, but he dismissed it. He reached into his pocket, took out a lighter, and handed it to
Ezra.
The instant his hand extended, Ezra twisted the man’s arm and slammed him face–first onto the table. His voice turned icy.”
Don’t move.”
An uproar erupted across the restaurant.
The bespectacled man’s pupils shook as he thrashed wildly.
Ezra’s training showed. He kept full control, applying just enough force to the twisted arm to pin the man flat against the table, unable to move. He produced his handcuffs and snapped them on with swift precision. Only then did the surrounding diners realize he was a police officer.
Dominic watched from the side the entire time. This kind of criminal did not require his involvement. With his abilities, he could have subdued the man with ease. Instead, he chose to hand the credit to Ezra. That favor would be useful later. Catching this man alone would earn at least a second–class merit.
“Who are you? Let go of me right now!” the bespectacled man shouted in panic.
Ezra replied evenly, “I’m a criminal investigator. As for why I’m arresting you, you already know.”
“I don’t know! I don’t know!” the man cried. “I’m a vocational school teacher. You can’t arrest me. I’ll tile a complaint!”
Ezra sneered, “A piece of trash like you is a teacher?”
Two uniformed officers rushed in from outside and helped restrain the man.
The entire exchange took place in moments. From the instant Dominic identified the murderer, Ezra never hesitated. He did not ask a single question before making the arrest.
That decisiveness made Dominic click his tongue in quiet admiration.
As the bespectacled man was escorted out, Dominic followed.
Only then did the server bring over the dishes. He stared at their departing figures, stunned. “Uh… Are you still eating this?”

In the interrogation room, Ezra asked coldly, “Your name.”
The bespectacled man took a deep breath to steady himself. “Anthony Johnson.”
“Where were you from March to June of 2018?”
“I was working in Skyline City.”
Ezra glanced at the case file.
