At that moment, the handprints on Isabella’s face were starkly visible on both cheeks.

One side had clearly been slapped by Dominic, and the mark had not faded. The other side looked lighter by comparison.

Her eyes flashed with anger as she grabbed Jessica by the hair.

Jessica was not someone to push around. After learning that Dominic had been injured because Isabella had slit her wrist the night before, stayed up all night in a panic, then fallen asleep at the company during the day and become trapped inside, her fury exploded.

She seized Isabella’s hair as well and shouted, “This is all your fault! If you wanted to die, why couldn’t you do it quietly? You got Dominic hurt!”

“What does this have to do with you?” Isabella shot back. “My husband was hurt. I’m more heartbroken than you are!”

Isabella’s face remained deathly pale. Without thinking about anything else, she swung her hand to slap Jessica. The motion pulled at her wound, and blood seeped through the bandage on her wrist.

Jessica quickly blocked the strike and slapped back.

After taking an unexpected hit, Isabella stayed on guard. She covered her face and did not let Jessica land another blow.

The two women clung to each other and began tearing at one another again.

Katherine panicked, unsure what to do. She wanted to intervene but could not find an opening. “Calm down. Stop fighting!”

Autumn did step forward and tried to pull them apart. Her martial arts training worked well in a fight, but it proved far less useful for breaking one up.

No one noticed that, aside from Dominic, Jewel lay in the hospital bed nearby. Her ear twitched slightly, and her eyes opened to

a narrow slit.

She could watch the chaos, but Dominic could not.

He sat up at once and snapped irritably, “What are you making such a fuss about? What are you all doing?”

The ward fell silent.

Both women stopped at the same time and rushed toward the bed.

“Honey!”

“Dominic!”

Autumn and Katherine lagged behind and could only stand at the back.

Autumn felt irritated. If she had known this would happen, she would have kicked them out and let them fight somewhere else.

Isabella pointed at the cheek Jessica had slapped and spoke with grievance. “Honey, she hit me!”

Jessica exploded. She pointed at the bruise around her own eye and cursed, “I haven’t even complained yet. Ex–wife, can’t you take a hit?”

“Enough.” Dominic felt a pounding in his head. “Isabella, go back to your ward.”

Isabella stared at him in disbelief. “Honey, y–you’re sending me away?”

“What else?” Dominic looked at her coldly. “I’ve already made myself very clear, I don’t want to see you.”

Jessica’s eyes lit up, and she clapped her hands in delight. “Hurry up and leave, ex–wife!”

He did not give her a single kind look. Indifference filled his voice.

Isabella’s body shook. When she saw the smug expression on Jessica’s face, tears burst out despite her efforts to hold them back.

Dominic did not look at her. He turned to Katherine and asked, “Katherine, where’s Lily?”

“My brother heard that Isabella was injured and came over,” Katherine replied. “He’s staying with Lily at home and playing with her.”

In truth, when Katherine learned that Dominic had been rescued from the fire, fear had nearly overwhelmed her.

She had called Oliver at once to take care of the child, then rushed straight to the ward herself. When she arrived, she found it crowded with people.

“All right.” Dominic nodded, then told Autumn, “I’m fine. Don’t worry.”

Autumn looked at him, his body wrapped in bandages, bit her lip softly, and nodded.

Jessica spoke with a hint of bitterness. “Dominic, you still haven’t said anything to me.”

Dominic felt his scalp tingle. “You don’t need to worry either.”

Everyone stepped aside to make room for the examination.

“You’re awake,” the doctor said while checking him over.

After confirming that his condition was stable, he nodded. “You have some mild burns, but nothing serious. They’ll heal on their own.”

“What about me?” Jewel asked softly, her voice tense.

The doctor smiled. “Don’t worry. You only have minor burns on your arm. You’ll recover very quickly.”

Relief filled Jewel’s eyes. Without thinking, she looked toward Dominic, whose body was almost completely wrapped in bandages.
