Chapter 368
After hanging up, Dominic did not go to bed. He stared at Isabella’s number on his phone for a long time, lost in thought, before finally putting it away.
Another WhatsApp message came through, this one from Lydia.
Lydia: [Bro, your ex–wife is really insane… If it weren’t for you, I’d really have been done for tonight!!
Unease filled every line. A flicker of coldness crossed Dominic’s eyes. He replied with a reassuring message.
Dominic: [It’s okay. I’ve already warned her. She won’t come looking for trouble again. Don’t worry.]
Lydia replied at once.
Lydia: (But I’m still really scared. Where are you? Could you… come keep me company?]
Dominic: [It’s too late. I’ve already gone to sleep. Next time.]
Lydia: [Oh, okay… *disappointed*]
Dominic read the message and chose not to respond.
The next morning, as soon as Dominic reached the company entrance, he noticed a young man standing there, looking awkward and uneasy.
He greeted him. “Brian.”
Brian’s eyes lit up when he saw him, and he hurried over. “Mr. Fleming!”
Dominic smiled. “You came to see me? What’s up?”
“I got my driver’s license, Mr. Fleming!” Brian said excitedly, pulling a brand–new license from his pocket.
Dominic looked surprised. “That fast? You can read? How did you pass the written tests?”
“I can read!” Brian said quickly. “All those years, even though I could only watch, I was still learning.”
Dominic understood at once and smiled. “Alright. Come upstairs with me.‘
He led Brian into the building.
The office was located in Millennium Tower, one of Isaac’s properties. JewelMed occupied the seventh and eighth floors. It was not exactly a rental arrangement, since Isaac had flatly refused to accept any rent.
Dominic brought Brian inside.
“Good morning, Mr. Fleming!”
“Good morning, sir!”
Employees they passed greeted him eagerly.
Dominic took Brian to the HR department and instructed, “Help him complete onboarding. His position is my chauffeur. Monthly salary is around 1,200 dollars.”
Brian froze in shock. “Mr. Fleming, isn’t that too much?”
Dominic smiled faintly, patted his shoulder, and said, “That’s settled. After onboarding, they’ll assign you a desk. I’ll call you when I need you.”
With that, he left the HR department.

In the afternoon, Dominic checked the time and stepped out of his office.
Brian sat at his desk with a book in hand, reading with complete focus.
“Brian, come with me,” Dominic said.
Brian jumped, looked up quickly, and replied at once, “Okay, Mr. Fleming.”
Downstairs, Dominic handed him the keys and pointed to a newly purchased company Maybach. “Can you drive an automatic?” “I learned manual,” Brian answered honestly, though he could not help admiring the car’s luxury.
Dominic smirked. “That’s fine. If you can drive manual, you can drive automatic.”
He climbed into the back seat.
City traffic was slow anyway. Even if Brian made a mistake and hit the accelerator instead of the brake, Dominic’s current physical condition meant there would be no real danger.
Brian got into the driver’s seat. “Mr. Fleming, where to?”
“Blossom Elementary,” Dominic said.
It was his turn to pick up Lilith.
Brian had been there before, but he was not familiar with the route, so he turned on navigation. The car soon eased into traffic.
Brian drove cautiously, and Dominic nodded in approval.
Halfway there, Dominic suddenly spotted someone. “Wait!”
Brian panicked and slammed on the brake.
The stop was abrupt, and the car behind them nearly rear–ended them. When the other driver realized it was a Maybach, he swallowed his complaints.
Dominic opened the door and stepped out. “Pull over to the side and wait for me in the car.”
