Chapter 409
Isabella clenched her teeth. Deep down, she knew that under such overwhelming public pressure, getting Dominic out easily would never be simple.
James said, “If you want him released now, there are only two possibilities. First, the police have no evidence at all. Second, the woman withdraws her accusation.”
“Then I’ll go find her-“Isabella started to say, then stopped short.
She suddenly remembered what Dominic had told her earlier that day. No matter what happened, he had warned her not to look for Lydia or Zachary or stir up trouble.
With that in mind, she quickly said, “Dad, could this whole thing be a setup by the Grants?”
James considered the question for a moment before replying, “It’s possible. And it might not be only the Grants. Because of White Cosmos No. 1, quite a few people probably want to pin him down for good.”
Isabella understood at once. This situation was far more complicated than it appeared on the surface.
After a long discussion with her father, she finally ended the call, her thoughts weighed down by unease.
Meanwhile, in the middle of the night, Jessica knocked on the door of the residence of the most powerful person in the state.
The door opened almost immediately.
Henry stood inside, neatly dressed. When he saw Jessica, he chuckled softly. “I knew you’d come.”
“Now isn’t the time for that,” Jessica said as she rushed inside, her voice tight with anxiety. “Uncle Henry, you have to step in and help me!”
Henry closed the door and followed at an unhurried pace. He gestured toward the sofa with a smile. “Sit.”
Jessica stamped her foot in frustration. “Uncle Henry, look at the time. Why sit now? Hurry and make a call. Tell them to release him!”
Given Henry’s status, Dominic’s release would take only a single word.
Yet Henry did not comply. He sat down, lifted his teacup, took a slow sip, and asked, “Is this man really that important to you?”
“Very important. Extremely important,” Jessica said, her small face drawn tight with seriousness.
“Then you should trust him,” Henry replied evenly.
Jessica’s expression shifted. She said in disbelief, “Uncle, what do you mean? That I do nothing? How could that possibly work? Dominic is already-”
“Listen to me,” Henry said, raising a hand to stop her.
He continued in a calm voice. “Someone is scheming behind this. Setting that aside, if he truly did what that woman clatios, then he is not worth saving. If he did not do it and still fell into a trap so easily, that only proves his incompetence”
Jessica clenched her teeth. “Who would dare scheme against Dominic?”
Henry paused, then took out his phone and handed it to her. “What If he’s involved too?”
The message was brief, just two words.

The sender’s name read: Charlie Hale,
Jessica’s eyes widened at once. “Dad?”
Henry smiled faintly. “Now you see. This matter is not as simple as you thought.”
Jessica was quick to understand. She connected the pieces immediately, and her expression darkened. “So Dominic going through this ordeal has something to do with me as well?”
Henry let out a quiet sigh. “There’s no need to worry too much. Let’s wait and see. If he can’t resolve it on his own, I will step in.”
Jessica’s face brightened, but Henry’s next words stopped her cold.
“But if I help him, you must promise that you will never have any contact with him again,” Henry said gently.
Jessica knew that this uncle of hers, who held immense power, never spoke lightly.
Henry glanced at her. “So he’ll have to get through this little difficulty by himself.”
