The news spread fast. Self–styled netizens quickly dug up Isabella’s family background.
The Sinclair Group in the distant Eastmere State was drawn into the fallout as well.
James called Isabella and let out a heavy sigh. “Bella, you acted on impulse.”
Isabella frowned. “Dad, what are you talking about?”
“Dominic is at the center of the storm right now,” James said. “You should not have stepped forward to speak for him.”
Isabella’s expression hardened at once. “Dad! How can you say that? He’s my husband. When he runs into trouble, I should face it with him as his wife.”
“You…” James fell silent. After a long pause, his voice turned grim. “You and he are already divorced. Do you think doing all this will move anyone? After he gets out, he might not even appreciate it.”
“What divorce? I don’t acknowledge it!” Isabella snapped. “Whether he appreciates it is his problem. I’m standing out anyway. If this affects the family, you can issue a statement saying my actions have nothing to do with the Sinclairs.”
James exploded. “Isabella, what nonsense is this? Do you think the family can’t withstand even this much?”
“Then that’s settled,” Isabella said calmly.
She was about to hang up when a thought struck her. “Dad, back then, when Benjamin didn’t survive the emergency treatment, did you personally see him being pushed out?”
After the shooting, the Sinclairs feared she might be targeted again, so they arranged bodyguards for her protection.
Benjamin had been rushed to the hospital, and James had gone there as well.
The question caught James off guard. He thought for a moment before replying, “He was pushed out covered with a white sheet. His family handled everything. Why are you asking this all of a sudden? You even attended Benjamin’s funeral, didn’t you?”
Isabella shook her head. “Nothing. I was just asking. I’m hanging up.”
She ended the call without another word.
Just then, Katherine stepped out of the room. “Lily’s already asleep. Was that Dad calling?”
Isabella nodded. “The video I posted affected the family. Dad called to say I shouldn’t have posted it,”
Katherine frowned at once. “How can Dad be like that? Dominic is completely isolated right now. We should be the ones to-”
She stopped mid–sentence after noticing Isabella’s probing gaze. She coughed lightly and fell silent.
Isabella studied her for several seconds. “Kathy, what’s wrong with you? You’re walking so awkwardly, waddling like a duck.”
Katherine’s heart skipped a beat, but she kept her composure, “I pulled something during yoga. It’ll take a few days to recover”
Isabella snorted. “No wonder you can’t spread your legs.”
‘I’d like to spread them too!‘ Katherine felt like crying inside. “That beast was relentless so many times. It’s a miracle I can still
walk…‘
She smoothly changed the subject. “How are things with Dominic?”
Isabella sighed, worry flickering in her eyes. “It’s obvious now that a woman named Lydia is framing my husband. But before he got into trouble, he told me that no matter what happened, I must not go looking for trouble with Lydia.”
Katherine’s eyes lit up. “So Dominic was already prepared?”

If that was the case, there was no need for this matter to be exposed.
At first, Katherine had thought that if there was truly no other option, she would testify at the police station. But if the truth came out, given her sister’s temperament, something would definitely spiral out of control.
She did not want to fall out with her sister. Unless it became unavoidable, this matter could never be spoken of.
Now that she knew Dominic had long been aware of Lydia’s schemes, Katherine finally felt more at ease.
Isabella nodded. “I know my husband is prepared, but how can I feel at ease watching him locked up in there?”
Katherine considered this before replying, “Maybe we should trust him. At the very least, we should believe he would never do that kind of thing to Lydia.”
“I know…” Isabella seemed to sense something yet could not fully grasp it. Her expression turned pensive.
Katherine went on, “As long as Dominic didn’t do it, can the other side really slander him so openly?”
“Slander…” Isabella’s eyes widened as a realization dawned on her. Energy surged through her.
