Killing intent cut through his voice. “I’ll wait right here today. If my grandson dared do anything worse than an animal, I’ll shoot him myself.”

Isabella remained at his side and spoke calmly. “He didn’t. The law is fair. It will restore his innocence.”

The courthouse entrance fell into instant silence.

This one–eyed old man wore a full military uniform, and his chest was covered in dull, rusted medals, so many they barely fit.

Those who understood their significance focused on the two at the very top, symbols of the highest military honor, and felt

shaken to the core.

One person murmured, “He is a living war legend.”
