Harold waved a hand and glanced toward the courtroom. “Looks like the verdict’s coming soon. No matter what, the law’s fair.”
It was a joke. With public opinion like this, who would dare act unfairly?
No matter how powerful someone was, they still had to lower their heads in front of an old war legend.
At that moment, the Grants were on the verge of exploding.
Panic filled Zachary’s eyes. “Fuck, fuck, fuck! Dominic Fleming. So you’ve got this kind of background, and you’ve been pretending in front of me this whole time?”
Elijah was no better. Sweat soaked his forehead, and his phone rang so often it barely had time to stop.
If it had only been the earlier exposure, they might have weathered it. The real problem was Lydia’s video from the night before, which had dragged Zachary into the mess as well.
Many people already suspected a setup.
If Dominic had no backing and no one had stepped forward to protect him, they could have forced the case through under
pressure and ended it there.
But the situation had changed. Dominic now stood under what looked like golden armor. If he had not done it, no one could frame him.
If this dragged on, it would be a massive catastrophe for the Grants.
Zachary’s face drained of color, and his lips began to tremble. “Dad… what do we do now?”
Elijah picked up his phone with shaking hands and called the judge. No one answered.
The trial was clearly underway.
Once the first hearing ended, if even part of the fabricated evidence was used to convict Dominic, they would be completely
finished.
Elijah panicked, gripping his phone and dialing again and again. No matter how many times he called, there was no response.
Today’s hearing was closed to the public. Everything inside was sealed off.
“Damn it, damn it!” At last, Elijah stopped calling. He clenched his teeth. “There’s only one way now.”
Zachary leaned forward. “Dad, tell me.”
“Dump everything on Lydia.” Elijah forced himself to calm down. “Lydia framed Ares‘ descendant. The whole internet curses her. She can’t handle the pressure, feels guilty, and commits suicide.”
Zachary froze. “You’re going to kill Lydia?”
“Lydia has to die,” Elijah said. “We need to calm Dominic’s anger. That man… we can’t afford to provoke him now.” Zachary collapsed onto the sofa and ground his teeth. “Can he really be this arrogant? Just because of one old man? Does he really have that much influence?”
“If no one knew, that old man wouldn’t matter much,” Elijah replied. “But this case stirred massive public attention. At first, public opinion was on our side. Now it’s on theirs. In this situation, not just us, even families at the Hale or Jones level would have to step back.”

The chaos outside meant nothing to the people inside the courthouse.
In the courtroom, Dominic stood at the defendant’s seat, while Lydia sat at the plaintiff’s table,
She cried as she accused him of his so–called rape,
“That day, I went to his company to wait for him. We went out to eat together, and in the afternoon we saw a morte.
“During the movie, he kept touching me and harassing me. I’m a woman. I care about my reputation, so I endured it. But he only became more excessive and unrestrained.
“Thankfully, the movie ended. I left right away. Since he treated me to lunch, I decided to treat him to hotpot, and I planned not to contact him again after that.
“But after we finished eating and were on our way home, he gave me a sip of water. After I drank it, I felt dizzy. My body overheated, and I had no strength left.
“I had no choice. I asked him to take me to the hospital, but he carried me into a hotel room instead… and harassed me there. After he finished, I finally found a chance to escape…”
