“Not really. I just can’t stand you. Could you move a little farther away?” Isabella said, her voice edged with frost.
Jessica clenched her teeth. “Isabella, don’t push it! Do you think I-”
Isabella’s eyes brightened with challenge. “I don’t believe you. So what are you going to do about it? Go on.”
The words pulled Jessica back to that night on the rooftop of the unfinished building. Her confidence faltered, and caution crept into her face.
She studied Isabella for a long moment, then let out a derisive laugh. “You’re trying to bait me into making a move so Dominic will dislike me even more and feel sorry for you. The ex–wife playing the victim. Two birds with one stone. Nice try. But you’ve got me wrong. I don’t fall for cheap tricks.”
A flicker of disappointment crossed Isabella’s face before she could hide it.
Jessica pressed on, her tone turning sharp, “I do wonder where you learned those fake innocent routines. Did someone teach you personally?”
The insult struck deeper than Jessica intended. It shattered Isabella’s composure.
Colot drained from her face. She pointed at Jessica, her hand trembling. “Jessica, shut your mouth.”
Jessica laughed and pulled a mocking face. “I won’t. Nyah, nyah.”
It had been a long time since Isabella had faced this kind of taunt. She was not used to it.
Impulse took over. She lunged forward and reached for Jessica.
“Isabella, what are you doing?” Dominic’s cold voice cut in from the side.
Isabella froze. A shiver ran through her as she withdrew her hand and turned to him. “Honey, she’s been provoking me on
purpose-”
“Does that justify you losing control?” Dominic asked, his tone even.
Isabella pressed her lips together. “No. I just couldn’t take it. What she said was too much.”
Dominic cast a brief glance at Jessica, then looked back at Isabella. “Even if you can’t take it, you still have to. If you can’t manage that, go back to Skyline City on your own.”
With that, he walked away to greet the guests.
A wave of grievance washed over Isabella. Jessica’s smug expression only made it worse.
“You did that deliberately, didn’t you?” she demanded.
Jessica snorted. With Dominic gone, she saw no reason to waste another second. She gave a casual whistle and strolled off
Isabella stood there, trembling with anger. She ground her teeth. “Jessica, just you wait.”
Jessica’s laughter drifted back. “I’ll be waiting.”
Inside, Henry sat beside Harold and watched the exchange through the window. He sighed. “The young ones seem close.”
Harold’s gaze remained steady. “Children have their own fortunes. I’m old. I neither want to interfere nor have the strength to ”
Henry frowned. “I think the Sinclair girl is quite decent. Perhaps you could suggest they remarry. Dominic might listen to you.” Harold understood the implication at once. Henry did not want his grandson entangled with Isabella any longer. To be frank, he
shared the sentiment.

He only smiled. “Love is their affair. I won’t offer advice. Let them choose their own path.”
Henry opened his mouth to continue, but Harold lifted his cup instead. “This is an old blend from home. I’m not sure whether you have a taste for it, Mr. Hale.”
Henry could only sigh and raise his cup in return.
Not long after, a black, unmarked car rolled to a stop outside. A small, elderly man stepped out.
Henry caught sight of him. Shock flashed across his face. He rose at once and straightened his posture. “Sir.”
