Chapter 456
Lydia asked nervously, “What are you planning to do?”
Dominic turned to look at her. “You wanted to protect your family, right? Simple. Kill Zachary. If that doesn’t solve the problem, deal with whoever is creating it.”
Lydia clenched her teeth, anger flashing in her eyes. “I’ve dreamed of killing him, but I can’t do it.”
Dominic smiled. He took out a pink plastic ring and held it out to her. “Put this on.”
A single strand of hair was wrapped around the ring.
Lydia looked at him, resentment still lingering. “Don’t toy with me.”
Dominic said nothing. He caught her hand and slid the ring onto her finger.
The next moment, Lydia froze.
A familiar November chill brushed against her skin. She stared ahead and whispered, “I… I came back to life?”
“Temporarily,” Dominic replied.
Shock flooded her face. “Dom, you…”
Words failed her.
Bringing the dead back to life. What kind of power was that?
A trace of awe entered her gaze.
“After your body is cremated tomorrow, you’ll be able to move freely,” Dominic said.
Lydia was no fool. Excitement sparked in her eyes, followed by a ruthless gleam. “Dom, I won’t disappoint you.”
Dominic waved a dismissive hand, unconcerned with whatever else she might be thinking.
Her existence now depended on one thing: obsession. And that obsession was revenge against Zachary.
Dominic had considered this long ago.
If she never manifested and never fulfilled her obsession, could her soul exist indefinitely?
Yes.
But a soul existed to fulfill its obsession. If it could fulfill it and chose not to, that choice would become its torment. In other words, if a soul survived yet refused to complete its obsession, it proved the obsession has faded. It could disappear at any moment.

Dominic understood that better than anyone. Nothing and no one in this world could make him give up Lilith.
He reached out and removed the ring from Lydia’s finger. “All right. I’ll go first. I’ll come for you tomorrow morning.”
She slipped back into her spirit state. Disappointment flickered across her face, but she nodded. “Okay. You have to come.”
Dominic nodded and opened the car door for her out of habit.
She stepped out, said goodbye, and walked into the funeral hall.
Wails echoed through the air. She saw her own body laid out at the center and muttered, ” Can’t they just cremate me today?”
She was probably the only person complaining that her cremation was taking too long.
Dominic left Lydia’s house and checked the time. He decided not to return to Skyline City and found a nearby hotel instead.
After a brief rest, he saw a call from Isabella. He frowned but answered.
“Honey, what are you doing?”
“I’m busy,” Dominic said flatly. “If you have something to say, say it.”
Isabella pouted. “You’re so annoying. Can’t you be a little nicer?”
“Say it quickly, or I’ll hang up.”
“Wait, don’t hang up,” Isabella said in a rush. “I need to tell you something.”
“Go ahead.”
“Grandma misses Lily. She wants to know when we’ll bring her back to Eastmere for a visit.”
At the mention of Isabella’s grandmother, Dominic paused.
He had always held a good impression of the Sinclairs‘ formidable grandmother.
When Isabella was newly pregnant, she had taken Dominic to Eastmere. Nearly every relative, aunts and uncles alike, had looked down on him and urged Isabella to terminate the pregnancy.
