Chapter 487
It was a huge blow to Autumn.
Jewel felt a twinge of jealousy and sighed softly. “See? I told you not to come, but you insisted!”
Autumn’s voice trembled. “Is Dominic… with her now?”
Jewel considered this for a moment. “Probably not yet, but I think it’s close. Your Dominic has definitely fallen for her. As for what that woman thinks, that’s still hard to say.”
Autumn’s expression darkened. She lowered her head in dejection and turned away without a word.
Jewel’s eyes suddenly lit up. “Hey, where are you going?”
Autumn forced a bitter smile. “I don’t know.”
Her heart was in chaos, as if all her strength had drained away.
The moment she remembered how Dominic had jerked his hand away as though he had been electrocuted, a sharp ache gripped her chest.
Jewel asked, “So, you’re going to give up?”
Autumn answered forlornly, “What else can I do?”
“They haven’t made it official yet,” Jewel said in a meaningful tone.
Autumn’s eyes brightened. “Aunt Jewel, what do you mean?”
Jewel smiled and encouraged her. “The outcome is still undecided. Anything is possible.”
Those words reignited Autumn’s resolve. Determination flashed in her eyes. “Aunt Jewel, you’re right!”
Jewel smiled. “Go. I’ll help you.”
“Aunt Jewel, you’re the best,” Autumn said gratefully.
Jewel remembered how Katherine had interrupted the last time she and Dominic had been alone in his office. Without hesitation, she grabbed Autumn’s hand and headed toward Dominic’s office. “Let’s go meet her.”
Autumn nodded firmly. “Okay!”
In her heart, she felt immense gratitude toward her aunt.
However, the truth was that Jewel felt her chances of dealing with Katherine alone were too slim. When Autumn looked ready to retreat, Jewel decided she might as well take a gamble and push her forward. Perhaps she could sit back and reap the benefits.
Besides, the confrontation earlier had almost erupted, and she had not seen enough!

If Autumn knew the wicked thoughts running through her aunt’s mind, who knew what expression she
would wear?
Inside the office, Dominic had just pulled Katherine in. They sat down on the sofa together.
Before any romantic atmosphere could form, the office door swung open. Autumn and Jewel walked in
one after the other.
Jewel, walking behind, closed the door quietly.
Dominic’s heart jumped. “Wait. Why are you two coming in as well?”
His cheek twitched.
Before he could speak, Autumn smiled and said, “Dominic, the painting you gave me is the best birthday gift I’ve ever received. When will you come back to my hometown with me?”
As she spoke, she carefully took out the painting she had kept close to her and unfolded it.
Katherine could see its contents clearly.
Dominic’s vision went dark. Inside, he cursed wildly, ‘Autumn… are you trying to kill me?‘
Sure enough, Katherine looked at him instinctively. Questions filled her eyes, along with a hint of jealousy.
Dominic gave a dry laugh and explained, “Well, it’s Autumn’s birthday today. That’s my gift to her. After
all, she doesn’t lack money.”
Katherine shot him a subtle glare. Then she stood up, looked at Autumn, and her expression turned calm. “Dominic doesn’t have time to go back to your hometown with you. He, Lily, and I are going back to Eastmere to visit Grandma.”
Jewel quietly stepped back two paces and pricked up her ears.
Dominic swallowed, his heart pounding. Each second felt like a year.
