Dominic closed the door. As he stepped into the elevator, his expression turned cold and stern. If he was not mistaken, the people downstairs had been sent by Elijah.

The elevator descended and soon reached the first floor.

Two figures stood quietly at the entrance. One of them was over 6’5“. They were Brian and Max. Both men kept their eyes fixed on the darkness nearby, where two seven–seat business vans were parked.

Dominic walked over, pattet Brian on the shoulder, and asked, “What’s the exact situation?”

Brian replied quickly, “Mr. Fleming, those two vans stopped as soon as they arrived, and nobody got out. I just saw someone open a window and glance toward your house. It looked suspicious.”

Dominic nodded in approval. “Good observation.”

Dominic said, “Let’s go take a look.”

He then led the two men straight toward the vans.

At the rear van, Dominic knocked on the window and said calmly, “Anyone there?”

Silence filled the van. No one inside had expected the target himself to come looking.

After about three seconds, a cold voice spoke from inside. “Everyone get out of the car.”

Both vans opened immediately. A large group of men rushed out and surrounded Dominic and his companions.

By rough count, there were about 20 of them. Their eyes were ruthless. They clearly were not ordinary paid bodyguards.

“Dominic Fleming, we meet again.”

The middle–aged man who spoke wore his hair tied back with a band. It was Neil, the same man who had followed Zachary

before.

“What’s this about?” he said. “Planning to mess with me?”

Neil replied coldly, “Since you’re here, let’s not waste words. Was it you who caused the heir’s death?”

Dominic smiled faintly. “You came all this way just to ask me that?”

Neil said, “Dominic, you’re smart. I know you’re a hero’s descendant, and the Hales protect you. But things have already reached this point. Either you die, or the trap breaks.

“If you confess, the chairman will allow you to turn yourself in. With your connections, you could be out in just over 10 years. But if you resist, you’ll die right here.”

Dominic could not help but laugh. “Elijah sure knows how to plan. He’s decided to come after me but is still hesitating. And… does he really dare to kill me?”
