Chapter 528
“Come, come, come it’s rare for my brother–in–law to be home today. Let’s have a drink together!” Oliver sneered as he stood and issued the call.
Immediately, everyone at the table rose, including James. The men lifted their drinks, the women their beverages, Smiles spread around the table as glasses were raised, and the atmosphere turned warm and cheerful
Even Leticia stood with her cup in hand to give face, her expression full of smiles. The warmth on her face contrasted sharply with her earlier fierceness.
Dominic quickly said, “We’re all family. There’s no need to be so formal.”
At that, Leticia’s eyes softened further. James also looked pleased.
Little did they know that Dominic was thinking that once he was with Katherine, he would not even need to change his father–in–law. They would still be family.
Oliver wasted no time. He tilted his head back and drained his glass in one gulp.
A young man in glasses spoke bashfully. “Cuz, cousin–in–law, I can’t drink much. I’ll just have a little.”
He was John’s son, Kevin, a freshman in college. The family had specifically called him back for the
reunion dinner.
“Ha! Next time you eat, sit at the kids‘ table!” Oliver waved him off dismissively.
Laughter broke out around the table, and Kevin sat down, embarrassed.
Oliver’s eyes never left Dominic. When he saw Dominic finish his drink in one gulp, he sneered and said sarcastically, “Hey, don’t force yourself if you can’t handle it. Otherwise Isabella will scold me again later.”
Dominic remained unfazed. He picked up the bottle, filled his glass, and smirked. “I’m more worried about you.”
The Sinclairs‘ tableware was precise. The celadon wine cups held about an ounce and a half, so the drink meant almost nothing to Dominic.
Leticia watched the younger generation with amusement and said with a laugh, “Don’t just drink. Eat something too.”
At that moment, a little girl glanced at Oliver, then at Dominic, and announced her judgment. “I think Oliver is probably going to lose tonight.”
She was Jenson’s daughter, Olivia Sinclair, 13 years
years old.
Oliver immediately flushed with embarrassment and anger. “Olivia, what do you mean by that? Why would Hose? Do you want me to hit you?”
Olivia giggled. “Because you’re not as handsome as Dom!”
Oliver’s face darkened. “Since when does drinking have anything to do with looks? Finish your food and
get out of the way.”
ominic laughed. “What, you can’t handle the truth?”
“Come, come, come!” Oliver snapped. He picked up his glass, drained it in one motion, then turned the
ty cup upside down, his eyes full of provocation.
Dominic calmly lifted his glass and finished it in a single gulp.
Two ounces of 53–proof whiskey went down without the slightest reaction. Even James looked a little surprised. “Dominic, when did your tolerance get this good?”
In previous years, Dominic had drunk with them as well, but usually no more than seven or eight ounces.
Dominic smiled. “Business dinners. I’ve gotten used to drinking a bit.”
In truth, he rarely attended such dinners. Most of his tolerance came from his improved physical
conditioning
nes nodded with a laugh. “I almost forgot. You’re a big boss now.”
Dominic’s thoughts stirred. He said suddenly, “Dad, I won’t hide it from you. After the New Year, Cosmos No. 2 might be released. The results are confidential for now. I plan to open a branch in Eastmere What do you think?”
The Sinclairs held real power in Eastmere, so the suggestion was reasonable. But the deeper implication
that he intended to cooperate with the Sinclair Group.
es‘ eyes lit up. Cosmos No. 2 was enticing, but what caught his attention even more was the way Dominic addressed him: Dad.
Ever since his youngest daughter divorced, Dominic had called him “Mr. Sinclair.” Now he had switched back to “Dad.” Could it mean that he and his daughter were about to remarry?
