"And I have physical evidence. This is the scarf he admitted to ruining."
Seeing that Quinn had both witnesses and proof, a flash of panic crossed Jade’s face. She rushed to explain.
"Quinn, Leo was just playing hide-and-seek with the maids and accidentally wandered into your room. You really should have locked your door."
"But he absolutely did not steal anything. You can't force a toddler to confess to something he never did."
Quinn’s lips curled into a sarcastic sneer, her nails digging into her palms.
"If you’re so sure I’m falsely accusing him, Jade, then why won't you just open the backpack?"
"Even when you threw yourself on the ground just now, you kept a death grip on it. We both know exactly what that means!"
She didn't bother explaining to Miles that she hadn't pushed Jade. There was no need.
This man was blindly devoted to his childhood sweetheart and her child. Why would he ever believe an outsider like her?
Jade's pupils constricted. She tugged on Miles's sleeve, looking pitiful and desperate.
"Miles, look at her... she's bullying Leo again. He was just playing around today and accidentally got her scarf dirty. She won't let it go, and now she’s calling him a thief! He's... he's only three years old."
"Your son broke into my room and intentionally ruined the scarf I made for Luna. It wasn't some innocent mistake. The evidence is right here, yet you’re still denying it. Fine, I'll call the cops and let them handle this."
Miles's face turned to stone, his gaze piercing her like shards of ice.
"That isn't enough to prove he stole from you, Quinn."
Quinn wasn't surprised in the slightest. She scoffed loudly. "Unbelievable. The proof is staring you in the face, yet you're still blindly defending your precious sweetheart and her kid?"
"If Luna finds out you let someone trash her gift like this, she’ll never speak another word to you for the rest of her life!"
Miles had been about to reprimand Quinn and force her to apologize to Leo.
But at the mention of Luna, his sharp eyes narrowed. His gaze dropped to the ruined fabric in her hands, and he reached out, snatching it away.
