Without another word, she pulled open the glass door and walked out, her expression ice-cold.
Seeing that she hadn't taken the laptop, Hunter hurried over to pack it back into its premium box, intending to bring it out to her.
But Jade stopped him. "Hunter, put that down."
She looked at Miles with teary, pleading eyes, her voice soft and full of grievance.
"Miles, just buy her a different model. Or, why don't we give her Lynn's laptop? That's a brand-new requisition too, Lynn hasn't even used it yet. I really want this one."
Hunter's knuckles whitened as a heavy wave of frustration built in his chest.
Was he hearing this right?
Secretary Winter actually wanted the boss's wife to use her assistant's hand-me-down?
Lynn had been using that laptop for a month, and its specs were garbage compared to this one.
She was entirely malicious. If Ms. Avery found out, how furious would she be?
Hunter gripped the box tightly, refusing to let go. Following the boss's orders last night, he had specifically hunted down this cutting-edge, high-memory model in a color perfect for women. He wasn't about to let her snatch it.
He looked at his boss. "Mr. York, this model is perfect for Ms. Avery, and it was exactly what you requested."
Miles simply pinched the bridge of his nose and spoke indifferently.
"Hunter, put it down."
"Since Quinn said she doesn't like it anyway, just give it to Jade. You can buy Quinn another style later."
Hunter's expression shifted, his tone turning urgent. "Mr. York, wasn't this a gift for Ms. Avery?"
A trace of irritation bled into Miles's voice. "Didn't she just say she didn't like it? Get her a model she actually wants. Leave this one for Jade."
Hunter was left speechless. What woman wouldn't like this model?
Ms. Avery just didn't want to accept his charity so easily and made up a quick excuse.
How could Mr. York be so blind?
Jade's eyes flashed triumphantly. So the shameless woman claimed she didn't like such a gorgeous laptop?
