Loyce simply arched an eyebrow, a playful smirk on her lips, but didn't immediately respond.
Logan frowned. "Sybil, you've misunderstood..."
The commotion drew Morris over. "What's all the noise?"
Feeling her reputation was ruined beyond repair, Sybil abandoned all restraint and turned on Morris, sobbing accusatorially. "You're biased, Morris! Just because Loyce is from the direct Lonsdale bloodline, you protect her even when she steals my inspiration and builds on it! You just let her trample all over my dignity!"
The atmosphere in the dressing room froze.
Loyce slowly rose, walked over to Sybil, and gently wiped a tear from the corner of her eye.
"Silly girl," Loyce's voice was surprisingly soft. "Mr. Ludlow was here to discuss giving us joint credit."
Sybil froze, a teardrop still clinging to her lashes. "Wh-what?"
Logan quickly offered her a tissue. "That's right. Ms. Lonsdale proposed that the piece be credited as a joint composition. She said you contributed the inspiration for the first three measures, so there's no plagiarism involved at all."
Morris turned and led Loyce out of the dressing room without another word. His actions made Loyce's high standing within the Lonsdale family crystal clear to the silent Logan.
Sybil collapsed in the room, her mind screaming that it was all over. Just then, her phone rang. It was Alicia, who had already heard the news.
"Where are you right now?!"
Sybil broke down completely. "Mom," she sobbed, "save me!"
