She Was the Treasure All Along novel Chapter 184

“Hahaha, I knew she couldn’t play!”

“Has she even been sitting there for five minutes? That much money, just like that? More money than sense!”

“Serpent’s going to make a killing tonight!”

Lester, still crumpled on the floor, turned deathly pale. “It’s over… It’s all over…”

Loyce’s expression soured, and she bit her lip. “You cheated.”

Serpent roared with laughter. “Miss, against an amateur like you, I could win with my eyes closed. Why would I need to cheat?”

Loyce tapped her finger on the table, her tone petulant. “One more round.”

Serpent raised an eyebrow. “Do you have any more money, miss? I just cleaned you out.”

Loyce let out a deliberately coy huff. “I have plenty of money. A two-hundred-million-dollar bet, double payout. Do you dare to accept?”

The entire room was in an uproar.

A greedy glint appeared in Serpent’s eyes as he licked his lips. “You’ll need four hundred million for that. Show me the chips first, then we can continue.”

Loyce pretended to be conflicted. “Let me make a phone call.”

As she stood to leave, a hand clamped down on her shoulder. Casino security pushed her back into her seat as Serpent smiled. “You can make the call right here, miss. No one leaves the table during a game.”

Serpent was also testing her. He’d been in the gambling world for a long time and knew every major player with money. But this woman was a complete unknown, and he was curious about her background.

“Don’t touch her.”

A magnetic voice cut through the noise.

Everyone turned to see a tall, lean figure standing against the light. The man wore a silver mask, and the silhouette of a suit was visible beneath his black trench coat. He emanated an aura of breathtaking pressure.

“I’ll cover her bet.”

Serpent narrowed his eyes. “Sir, the casino has rules…”

The masked man walked straight to the table, a black card held between his long fingers. He tossed it onto the felt. “A billion dollars. Go ahead and verify it.”

The dealer’s hand trembled as he took the card and swiped it through the machine.

His deep voice rumbled in her ear, filled with unshakable confidence. “If you lose it all, I’ll get you another two.”

“What if I bankrupt you?” Loyce asked.

“Then you’ll have to take responsibility for me, Loyce. We’ll have to wander the world together.”

Her fingertips trembled slightly as she looked up, meeting his deep eyes behind the mask. In them, she saw a level of indulgence and trust she had never witnessed before.

“You…” she began, but was cut off by Serpent’s impatient shout.

“Deal the cards!” he slammed the table, his eyes gleaming with greed. “Let’s just see how far this gentleman is willing to spoil you!”

The dealer’s hands shook as he dealt.

Her first card was the Jack of Spades. Loyce looked down, her fingers lightly caressing the card. Of course, she knew how to play—better than anyone else in this room. But for now, she wanted to see just how far this man who promised to protect her would go.

“Raise,” she said, pushing a stack of chips forward. “Five hundred million.”

The room erupted.
