She Was the Treasure All Along novel Chapter 187

“Just a personal hobby,” she replied, clearly unwilling to elaborate. “It’s over now. Finish your drink and go home. You’re getting on in years, you should get some rest.”

Hearing her call him old, Lucian visibly tensed, and his eyes took on a dangerous edge. “You can’t judge my age by just looking.”

Loyce tilted her head at him. “Oh?” For a split second, her mind went somewhere it shouldn't have.

But Lucian turned away smoothly, his gaze sweeping over a private suite on the second floor. “For example,” he said in a low voice, “I don’t think this is over so simply. From the moment you started playing, you’ve had eyes on you. At least two different groups. Who have you upset recently?”

Loyce sighed internally. The legendary Admiral, indeed. Even in this chaotic, crowded place, he could pinpoint not only her own people but also the other…

She already knew who was watching her. She had orchestrated this whole spectacle tonight to draw him out—the casino’s hidden boss.

“I’m not sure, but the Lonsdale family assigned me bodyguards. I’ll be fine.” Loyce set down her glass. “I’m going to the restroom.”

Lucian watched her walk away, his expression thoughtful. He had a strong feeling that this girl, full of mystery, had planned tonight's events intentionally. He decided to remain in the shadows and see what she was up to. Besides, his men had the casino surrounded; nothing could go wrong.

As he waited alone, a number of beautiful women approached him, trying to strike up a conversation. Lucian glanced at his watch. It had been half an hour since Loyce left. His gaze darkened. Where was she?

...

Meanwhile, in another luxurious suite.

Serpent didn’t dare argue. He just turned to Loyce and snapped, “You should be on your knees thanking him! You’re lucky you’re not sleeping with the fishes tonight!”

Loyce leaned back into the leather sofa, her fingertips tapping lazily on the armrest. “Speaking of the sea, I was just about to ask. How did my shipment end up in your hands?”

Onyx Tiger’s gaze sharpened. “What are you talking about?”

Loyce rose to her feet and walked toward him. The bodyguards behind her immediately raised their pistols and aimed them at her.

Convinced that a lone woman posed no threat, Onyx Tiger wasn’t intimidated by her approach. “Who sent you?” he asked.
