She Was the Treasure All Along novel Chapter 224

“I’d rather not make this money than let my company be saddled with such a baseless accusation.”

Gavin’s words made him look like a wronged man, and Caden immediately stepped up to defend him. “How could that be acceptable? The medical system on a warship is crucial. Without Gavin’s equipment, how can we guarantee the healthcare of so many people in the fleet?”

The Naval Commander mulled it over for a moment, his brow furrowed as he looked at Lucian. “This is a military base, not a place for the girl you brought to make frivolous claims. I trust you understand that.”

Faced with a room full of doubtful and accusatory stares, Lucian didn’t even flinch. “I don’t trust Gavin,” he stated simply.

Gavin raised his hand and swore on his life. “I swear on my life that our medical equipment has absolutely no issues. If Admiral Shapiro insists on submitting a false report to the Department of Defense, then to prove my innocence, I will shut down the emergency system effective immediately. As for who else has the capability to take over the entire naval fleet’s medical system, Admiral Shapiro can go and find them.”

Jasmine interjected disapprovingly, “Absolutely not.”

She looked at Lucian, frowning. “Lucian, when did you become so irrational? You’d rather trust a report written by a college student than the one I gave you? After all our years of working together, you don’t trust me anymore?”

“It’s not that I don’t trust you. It’s that your skills are insufficient.”

Lucian’s single sentence made Jasmine’s face darken with anger. What did he mean by that? Was he openly saying her technical abilities were inferior to a college student’s?

The Naval Commander spoke up. “Lucian, what exactly do you intend to do? This is a matter of great importance.”

Lucian’s voice was calm and firm. “Since Gavin is willing to cut the supply, then let him. We’re terminating the partnership.”

The entire medical bay erupted in chaos.

“Admiral Shapiro! This is no time for jokes!”

“Without a medical system, who will guarantee the safety of our soldiers on the front lines?”

“Are you insane? You’re gambling the entire fleet’s medical system on a woman?”

“There’s nothing inappropriate about it,” the Naval Commander cut him off. “If Gavin’s medical equipment really does have major technical flaws and there’s been corruption involved for all these years, who do you think would be able to bear that responsibility?”

Caden fell silent. If the accusations were true, everyone from the top down in the navy would face severe repercussions. The medical team would be the first to fall.

Jasmine, as the senior medical officer responsible for daily maintenance and reports, would also be found guilty of gross negligence and punished.

Meredith, considering his daughter’s position, asked Lucian, “Have you hired professional technicians to upgrade the equipment?”

Jasmine instinctively glanced at Loyce and sneered. “The nation’s top medical teams are either at the Military University Hospital or here with the navy. If you’re foolishly relying on a college student to help you upgrade the system, Lucian, all I can say is you might as well retire now.”

“Just as people can't earn money beyond their understanding, the same is true for knowledge. Just because you don't know something, or can't do it, doesn't mean I can't,” Loyce said, her voice cool and clear. She met Jasmine’s scornful gaze without flinching, her posture straight and confident even when surrounded by high-ranking military officers.

Being publicly challenged by a young woman, Jasmine felt utterly humiliated. She laughed, her voice dripping with fury. “Such big talk. Fine. If you manage to successfully upgrade the equipment, I will submit my resignation for my own incompetence and leave the fleet!”
