Zeke replied, "Cyrilla is still young. She doesn't know any better. She needs time to mature. The only reason I'm alive today is because her grandmother traded her life for mine. I made a promise on her deathbed, and I intend to keep it. My grandson will marry into her bloodline, and I will ensure she lives a life free of hardship."
"This is the one and only time I will tolerate her viciousness and cruelty."
Zeke actually knew the full truth of what happened. But in his old-school worldview, everyone made mistakes, and as long as they admitted their faults and changed, they were still good kids.
"If you forcibly bankrupt her classmates and expose her true motives to the world, it will utterly destroy her."
Loyce looked at the rare metal mining contract, her eyes calculating.
She turned to Gordon. "Grandpa, this contract is extremely important to my brother, isn't it?"
Gordon, completely unaware of the massive scene Marnie and the others had caused at the hospital, replied, "It is. But I don't quite understand the terms of this exchange."
Having her confirmation, Loyce reached out and picked up the file. "Since this is a deal my brother desperately wants, trading it for a few storefronts in Futura-Silicon is a highly profitable exchange. I..."
"What profitable exchange?!"
Before she could even finish her sentence, a furious voice boomed from the doorway. Hank stormed into the house, carrying a beautifully wrapped gift box, the air crackling with his anger.
He completely ignored Zeke and Gordon, striding straight up to Loyce. He slammed the gift box down on the coffee table in front of her with a heavy, echoing thud.
When it came to protecting Loyce, the entire Lonsdale family was a united, indestructible front.
Hank snatched the contract right out of Loyce's hand and ripped it to shreds. He then looked at Loyce with utter seriousness. "Loyce, our family won't go bankrupt over a single metal mine. Don't you ever sacrifice yourself to bail out our oldest brother's business. That's a problem for him to solve, not you."
Loyce blinked, momentarily stunned. She had almost become entirely accustomed to treating her family's problems as her own.
It was exactly because Morris had mentioned this tendency of hers to Hank that his heart ached so fiercely for his traumatized sister.
Hank crouched down in front of her and gently pinched her cheek. "Stop trying to be the vanguard. Even if the sky falls, your brothers will hold it up for you. From this moment on, you only need to think about yourself. Crush anyone who bullies you. If you make a mistake, who cares? Your brothers will always have your back. Do you understand?"
