Seeing no trace of anxiety on Alicia's face—only absolute confidence—Sylvie assumed Élégance's victory was practically guaranteed.
"No problem at all," Sylvie said warmly. "I just foresee Bloomberry making a massive fool of themselves tonight. Ms. Lonsdale only recently reclaimed her status in her family. I'd advise you not to humiliate her too thoroughly."
"Naturally," Alicia replied. "We're family, after all. As long as she bows her head and admits her mistakes, I won't hold it against her."
As the final countdown clock hit zero, the house lights dimmed, and the spotlights converged at the top of the runway.
Yolene, fully prepared for her moment, took a deep breath. As the upbeat music pulsed through the speakers, she stepped out, her movements light and perfectly in sync with the rhythm.
The uniquely tailored trench coat, dyed in the fresh, vibrant green of budding leaves, flowed beautifully with her every step. The intricate stitching and the specialized blending of the fabric made it look as though she were wearing a physical manifestation of spring itself.
The audience's eyes widened, and gasps of admiration rippled through the crowd as they took in the exquisite details.
Once Yolene completed her walk and struck her final pose, the runway lights shifted, signaling the judges' critique segment.
Raoul Dubois stood up from the center judge's chair and picked up his microphone. The murmurs in the hall instantly died down. "I believe we can all agree that our opening look was quite impressive. I have a few questions for the designer. Who is the creator of this piece?"
Heart pounding with excitement, Sybil smoothed down her skirt and stood up, offering a graceful bow to the judges and the audience. "Hello, everyone. I am the designer of 'Spring'. My name is Sybil Seabrook."
"Élégance's submission tonight has certainly caught our attention, and seeing such a young designer behind it is a pleasant surprise," Raoul said mildly. "Could you tell us what mindset you were in when you conceptualized this piece?"
Sybil had memorized her script perfectly. She regurgitated the exact same story she had told the Langley family. "I was on a trip to a country where spring was in full bloom. The endless greenery and the blooming flowers were breathtaking. The blended fabric we used was created with a specialized dyeing technique—it's a signature, one-of-a-kind mark of Élégance."
