She Was the Treasure All Along novel Chapter 566

"Exactly," Loyce replied smoothly. "What *does* it have to do with South Africa? I just know something isn't right."

Morris had words on the tip of his tongue but swallowed them back. Instead, he offered a gentle warning. "I know how much you care for Lucian, but the battles he's fighting involve national politics. Do what you can, but please be careful, understand? We all worry about you."

Loyce's tone softened instantly. "I know."

After dinner, Morris stepped out onto his balcony and dialed Hank's number, filling him in on everything.

Hank was currently managing the Costa family in Rimora, frequently traveling between borders to oversee operations.

Hearing Morris's summary, Hank immediately went on high alert. "South Africa? It's not just animals down there. It's a hotbed for the world's largest syndicates, drug cartels, and arms dealers. If Corinne's annual trips aren't actually about saving the rhinos, the danger level just skyrocketed."

"I know," Morris sighed. "But Lucian is drowning in his own political crises right now. I know our little sister is keeping secrets from me and that she's incredibly capable, but letting her walk into that alone? I can't sleep at night with that."

"I'll take a covert team and shadow her," Hank stated without a second thought. "She's our lifeblood. We can't let anything happen to her."

Morris let out a breath of relief. "With you there, I won't worry."

After all, when it came to navigating the ruthless criminal underworld, Hank was the only expert in the Lonsdale family.

...

For the next stretch of time, Loyce barely left the house.

Her former professor, Dr. Bonick, had sent her a heavily encrypted file of biological data. After running countless simulations, she finally finished crunching the numbers and sent the package back.

In stark contrast, the Shapiro family was taking a beating. Following the devastating official report on The Providence released by the Investigation Bureau, the family's stock plummeted.

Lucian was officially suspended from his military duties for the foreseeable future.

The report conveniently omitted any evidence of internal explosives on the ship. The sole survivor was so severely traumatized that extracting coherent testimony from him was nearly impossible, requiring a very slow, delicate psychiatric recovery process. For Lucian's reputation, the timing couldn't be worse.

Yorick was currently riding high on his successes, but he felt a gaping void in his romantic life. His thoughts kept drifting back to Loyce—the radiant, brilliant girl who had rooted herself firmly in his heart.

She was like a dazzling star, and he wanted nothing more than to pluck her from the sky and keep her for himself.

Seeing Lucian at his lowest point, Yorick's ambitions flared. He finally made a very bold decision.
