She Was the Treasure All Along novel Chapter 580

Yorick slammed his fist into the wall beside the door, his chest tight with unvented frustration and rage before he finally stormed off.

Inside the room, Lucian easily heard the impact against the wall. Without batting an eye, he stepped out onto his balcony and, over the roaring crash of the ocean waves, made a phone call.

"Put a hold on the Southeast Asia cargo ship contract."

"Has there been an issue, boss?" the person on the other end asked.

"No issue," Lucian said languidly. "I just remembered that the Winslet family is only handling the construction. They're missing a management firm. Hand the management and oversight contract to the Shapiro Group. Their stock has been dipping lately; funneling some management fees their way will reassure the shareholders."

"Understood. I'll have the Winslet representatives coordinate with you."

"Make it happen within the next two days."

"Yes, boss."

...

"I had no idea Morris was such an incredible pool player," Yuna Lombard said, trailing behind Loyce, her voice dripping with envy. "You're so lucky to have such an amazing brother, Loyce. He's so gentle, strong, and level-headed. You rarely see guys like that in our circles."

Loyce didn't break her stride. "So, you've been following me around since we boarded just to get to my brother?"

Yuna froze, then quickly scurried to catch up. "I genuinely just want to be friends with you—oh, wait, no," she corrected herself with an eager, sycophantic smile. "Your sidekick."

Yuna's family was practically invisible at a gathering of this caliber. Having lost Sybil Seabrook as her meal ticket and with no marriage alliance lined up, she was desperate to latch onto a powerhouse.

As the ushers pushed open the heavy doors to the banquet hall, the sound of an elegant piano melody drifted out. Seizing the opportunity to change the awkward subject, Yuna chimed in, "Wow, that piano sounds lovely, haha..."

Before they even got close, Loyce spotted a familiar face playing at the center stage.

Yuna noticed too and hastily tried to backtrack. "But playing piano at an event like this just makes her look like a glorified waitress trying to entertain the rich. It's totally degrading."

As the drenched Dr. Karl walked away, he brushed past Loyce, flashing her a quick, knowing smile.

Loyce's lips twitched upward. Beside her, Yuna was still muttering under her breath. "What kind of dumb luck does Sybil have? Her reputation is entirely ruined, yet some big-shot foreigner is still swooning over her, and that idiot Thane Crown was willing to sever ties with his parents for her."

Another girl chimed in. "Well, her father is Edgar Lonsdale, a branch member of the Lonsdale family, and she did inherit their good looks. If it wasn't for his face, how else would a branch member marry someone like Alicia Seabrook? The Seabrook family used to be a massive, old-money powerhouse, though they've been declining for years."

Deep down, Sybil entirely agreed. A gentle, successful, and emotionally stable man like Dr. Karl was exactly the kind of man she deserved.

But the sharp pain of Thane's grip on her wrist reminded her that she still had this irritating burden to deal with.

Until she had Dr. Karl fully secured, she couldn't afford to throw Thane away just yet.

Pulling Thane into a secluded corner, she kissed his earlobe and whispered sweetly, "Don't be jealous. You're the only one I love. That man is just a random acquaintance from the ship. He'll be leaving Metropia soon, and I'll never see him again."
