She Was the Treasure All Along novel Chapter 588

"Ha." Jasmine let out a hollow, bitter laugh, tears still tracking through her ruined makeup. "My father isn't that forgiving. He'll order a full investigation into who drugged me, and I won't do a thing to stop him. It's your incompetence that cost me my dignity, and you're going to pay for it!"

Hearing the threat, Channing's face hardened. "Jasmine, we can still talk this out..."

"I'm done talking," Luna snapped, her patience completely exhausted. "I despise negotiating. If she doesn't want to be an ally, cut her loose."

Luna spun on her heel to leave, only to freeze when she saw Lucian and Loyce standing right outside the door.

Channing saw them a second later, his heart plummeting to his stomach.

Why were they here?

How long had they been listening? And how much did they hear? He knew for a fact that Loyce, as the SaintHealer, was sharp. She also understood French.

Even though Luna's arrogant outburst didn't give away specific details, Channing was terrified that Loyce might piece together critical clues from their fragmented argument.

If she figured out the truth, it would be catastrophic.

Realizing there were people outside, Jasmine stepped into the doorway just as Yorick and his entourage arrived, turning the hallway into a crowded spectacle.

Yorick hadn't been able to find Loyce until he checked the security footage, which showed her entering the exact lounge Lucian had occupied.

He was breathing heavily, his eyes locked onto Loyce.

The dress she was wearing in the footage was different from the fresh one she had on now. Looking at Lucian's entirely too-relaxed demeanor and his rumpled shirt, anyone with half a brain could connect the dots.

"You lied to me!"

The realization that Lucian had slept with Loyce under the influence of the drug made Yorick's blood boil. Shocking everyone, he hauled back and threw a vicious punch straight at Lucian's face.

Loyce was absolutely certain Lucian could have dodged it. Everyone assumed he would.

What hurt the most was that from the moment Lucian appeared, he hadn't looked at her for more than a second. That absolute, devastating indifference was worse than hatred.

Jasmine stared at him, her voice trembling. "So the reason you shoved me away... the reason you left me... was to go find her."

Lucian finally glanced at her, his eyes devoid of any warmth. "Who else would I look for? You?"

The words pierced her chest like shattered glass. His mocking tone and disdainful gaze rubbed salt in her wounds. He had abandoned her, leaving her to be ruined by another man, without a second thought.

With bloodshot eyes, Jasmine shrieked, "Lucian! You don't have a heart!"

"Oh, I do," Lucian replied effortlessly. "I just gave it to someone else."

Since when did he ever talk like this?

Every single change in him was because of Loyce!
