One of the senior executives suddenly spoke up. "However, Ms. Lonsdale's words are sincere. There's no harm in letting her finish."
None of the other executives objected. Edgar Lonsdale naturally couldn't say much else, so he simply nodded at Loyce, signaling her to continue.
Meeting his gaze, she turned back to the room. "I've acquired some critical intelligence. The Belfry's A7 and A8 parcels are indeed prime real estate, but they come with massive hidden liabilities. The geological conditions are incredibly complex, which will make construction a nightmare. Seeing a return on this investment would take a lifetime."
She paused for effect. "More importantly, Macrostar Production's cash flow is already tight. If we bet the majority of our available capital on such a high-risk project, what happens to the company if something goes wrong?"
Sweeping her eyes over the thoughtful faces of the board members, she knew perfectly well she was voicing their exact fears.
These people weren't blindly loyal to Edgar. A massive capital investment like this tied directly into their own financial lifelines.
Adding a touch of earnestness to her tone, Loyce continued, "Macrostar is my parents' legacy, and it's the result of years of hard work from everyone sitting in this room. I might be young, but I will absolutely not gamble with my parents' estate or this company's future. I certainly won't push us into the fire without knowing the full truth. My opposition today isn't about grabbing power; I just want to save Macrostar from a catastrophic crisis."
Her argument was logical, grounded, and emotionally charged. Mentioning the cash flow and potential risks precisely hit the nerves of the more cautious shareholders.
A shareholder nearby couldn't help but chime in. "Regardless of Ms. Lonsdale's personal motives, she's pointing out the exact issues we've been debating. If we fight for these parcels and the return on investment is endlessly delayed, our cash flow will definitely fracture."
Edgar scanned the room and let out a cold scoff. "I am well aware of the risks. But to be completely honest with you all—Stellar Trust is preparing to step in. If it's land they want, do you really think there's a problem with it? Stellar Trust never misses."
At the mention of the trust, Loyce blinked, though internally she felt absolutely nothing.
She already knew the choice they were going to make. They were walking right into her trap.
