Their secretly funded troll farms descended on the internet like a swarm of locusts. This time, they pivoted from mindless insults to feigning "rationality," attempting to deconstruct the video.
*"The background looks filthy, like they're on a rogue ship, and that flag is literally a pirate insignia. I bet these guys are actual pirates. Are we really trusting pirates now? Since when do uneducated thugs know anything about structural naval mechanics?"*
*"They posted it anonymously and won't show their faces because they're probably on international most-wanted lists!"*
*"Even if there are discrepancies, we need to wait for the authorities to investigate, not let the internet act as a mob!"*
The digital battlefield was engulfed in smoke. Supporters of the video clashed viciously with loyalists defending the "official narrative."
The Department of Justice and the Investigation Bureau took a hardline stance, projecting an aura of untouchable authority. Rumors even leaked that they were tracing IPs, preparing to press charges against the uploaders for "spreading rumors and obstructing justice."
But when the cyber division tracked Buck's IP address, they were utterly dumbfounded.
In a closed-door meeting, one operative stared blankly at the screen. "They... they really are pirates. From Somalia. Do these guys have that much free time? They're running internet campaigns instead of hijacking freighters? The worst part is, they've gained a hundred thousand followers from this."
Halfway across the world, lifetime pirates Buck and Dustin had no idea they had accidentally become influencers. Buck was scrolling through his DMs, grinning ear to ear at the messages from women. "Oh man, this is incredible!"
Back in the DoJ, the atmosphere was suffocating.
An official finally suggested, "If we can't arrest them, then force the official forums to take the video down! Contact the media conglomerates and ban these idiotic clips everywhere!"
"Do it!" the Minister of Justice snapped. "Get it done immediately."
Money talks, and a hundred-million-dollar bounty screams.
Soon enough, a high-ranking hacker operating under the alias "Ghost" accepted the contract.
The official who brokered the deal reported back: "Ghost is famous for his unpredictable attack vectors and zero failure rate. He supposedly holds several unreleased zero-day exploits. He's ranked number two on the entire dark web. He can definitely solve our problem."
The bounty sent ripples through the underground networks.
Sitting in a dark room eating instant ramen, a pale, malnourished young man forwarded the bounty to Lucian. "They're really bleeding cash now. Using taxpayer money, huh? They're desperate enough to drop a hundred million to drag the eternal runner-up out of hiding just to delete a video. They must have a gun to their heads."
