Channing looks thoroughly embarrassed. He mutters a quick "Sorry, she's acting like a child," to Lucian and Loyce before rushing off after her.
Lucian drapes the towel over Loyce's shoulders and pulls her out of the water. "Go shower and change into some warm clothes. Dry your hair. Don't catch a cold."
Once she heads to the locker room, he spots a waiter setting down desserts. He walks over and says, "Please have the kitchen prepare a cup of hot coffee. I'll come get it shortly."
The waiter nods eagerly.
A few passing Navy officers overhear this. Seeing the notoriously cold, ruthless Admiral acting like a doting caretaker leaves them wide-eyed.
He is completely whipped! Ordering hot coffee just to warm her up? What kind of hardened military man thinks of that?!
Unbelievable!
Absolutely unbelievable!
Meanwhile, in a secluded hallway corner near the locker rooms, an intense argument breaks out.
"Luna! Do you have any idea how bad you looked back there?!" Channing's social mask is completely shattered, revealing his deep impatience. "Storming off in front of everyone? They just think you're an unreasonable brat!"
Luna is soaking wet, her expensive swimsuit dripping onto the floor. Her hair is plastered to her face, her makeup ruined, making her furious expression look even more deranged.
Before she left the pool, she saw Lucian immediately wrap a towel around Loyce. Yet the man standing in front of her only chased her down to yell at her!
She slaps Channing's hand away, her voice shrill. "Channing Shapiro! I am the heiress of Ares Global! I have never been treated like this in my entire life! Judged and mocked by a bunch of trashy officers and their side pieces! And instead of standing up for me, you're blaming me?!"
"I wasn't not defending you! It was a game! Loyce didn't make a big deal out of it, so why did you? We need to look at the bigger picture!"
"Loyce! Loyce! It's always about Loyce!" Luna screams, all her pent-up resentment exploding. "Other than telling me to endure it and look at the bigger picture, what else can you do?! You didn't even have the guts to play a game with me! You junkie! You are nothing compared to Lucian. No wonder my father refuses to hand over the core family business to you or let us get married!"
Her words strike Channing's most fragile nerve. He absolutely despises being compared to Lucian, especially by the woman he's supposed to marry.
Slap!
He needs time to cool off, and he decides she needs to suffer a bit to realize the reality of their situation.
Luna is still in her wet swimsuit. The biting night wind makes her shiver violently, but her mind is consumed by hatred.
Why? She is the princess of Ares! She is supposed to be the center of the universe, the brightest star in the room! Not a drenched, shivering joke mocked by everyone!
Anger and humiliation boil over. She stops near a row of heavy, decorative string lights set up for the holiday party. Through her tear-blurred vision, the glowing bulbs look like they are mocking her.
"Even you're laughing at me!" she screams. In a fit of rage, she kicks the metal base of the lighting stand with all her might.
Clang!
The kick is forceful. The metal pole sways violently, pulling the wires taut. With a sharp crack, an old, poorly secured wire snaps, sending sparks flying.
Immediately, the heavy, high-powered spotlight attached to the top of the pole groans under the shifted weight. The bracket snaps. The massive metal fixture plummets downward, trailing severed wires, heading straight for Luna's head!
