Trembling from head to toe, Karina scrambled out of the car and hurried away.

Hank let out a harsh breath. "She showed her face in that setting! Do you know how many targets she just painted on her back? I had to treat her like garbage to protect her."

He had no idea that this was exactly what Loyce wanted.

"Then are you ready to let her go?" Loyce asked. "If she goes back to her normal life, far away from you, she won't be in any danger."

His face darkened. His answer was the same as always. "I can't do that."

Loyce shrugged. "I'm just saying, you're not in a position to juggle a gang war and a relationship right now. Letting her go for a while is the right move."

Whether he listened to her or not was his problem.

Hank stared at the tightly shut bedroom door for a long moment before turning away.

Lucian took Loyce's hand, his thumb brushing her knuckles. "So, you've officially decided to meddle in their love lives?"

"I'm just making the right choice for him," she said softly. "If he forces it now, he'll lose Giselle forever. It's better to give them both time to grow. There's still a chance to turn things around."

Lucian chuckled low in his throat. "Since when did you become a relationship expert?"

"Since I got together with you. I've realized a lot of things." She pushed his wheelchair toward their room. "I'm heading to the lab tomorrow to work with my mentor. Do you want to come?"
