She Was the Treasure All Along novel Chapter 857

That familiar voice made Lucian's heart skip a beat.

Across the sterile barrier, Loyce stood just outside the makeshift surgical zone, staring at the man lying on the operating table. She didn't scream, didn't panic, and didn't yell at him for taking such an insane risk under hostile conditions. Instead, she immediately began issuing rapid, precise medical directives, helping Heath and his team stabilize the surgical site faster.

As for the ticking time bomb of the microchip, Nathan Huxley stepped into the light, rolling up his sleeve to bare his arm.

"Put it in me."

Loyce looked at him, her eyes sharp. "You?"

"I will never betray Stellar Trust," Nathan said, his voice vibrating with raw, fanatical ambition. "My loyalty to the company is absolute."

When he said it, his eyes burned with a predator's hunger.

He wasn't lying about his loyalty to the empire he had helped build—but he didn't just want to be its best employee. He intended to tear the throne away and become its absolute ruler.

Understanding exactly what he was playing at, Loyce wasted no time. Within the ten-minute window, she performed a rapid subcutaneous implant, connecting the chip to Nathan's motor nerves. The chip rebooted. The delay reset. The remote servers registered the vitals as normal.

With Lucian's procedure completely finished, Heath let out a massive sigh of relief. "It's a success. But Lucian, you need strict bed rest for at least a week. You cannot be up and walking around."

The sterile curtain was pulled back. Loyce walked to his side. As Lucian raised a weak hand, she immediately caught it, leaning down close to his face.

"You idiot," she whispered fiercely.

His lips twitched into a tired smirk. "I am."

She pressed a soft, lingering kiss against his dry lips. She knew exactly why he had kept her in the dark—he hadn't wanted her to endure the terror of operating on the man she loved.

She couldn't bring herself to be angry. She gently cupped his cheek. "I love you."

His smile deepened. "You and the baby are worth risking everything for."

Because Sigrid was currently tearing the ship apart looking for him, they couldn't afford to waste time. Lucian was quickly and secretly transferred into a standard VIP guest cabin.

Moments later, Quintin looped a spliced piece of security footage into the ship's mainframe, showing Lucian casually walking into the suite.

A frantic Sigrid slammed the door open.

Inside the dimly lit room, she saw a man asleep on the bed. A maid was just placing a glass of hangover cure on the nightstand. The maid turned to Sigrid and whispered nervously, "Mr. Shapiro had too much to drink at the reception, ma'am. He's passed out."

Without hesitating, Sigrid slapped the maid across the face.

"The entire ship is on lockdown looking for him! Why didn't you inform me?!"

The maid, pale and trembling, stammered, "I-I'm so sorry, miss! I was working in the kitchens, I didn't hear the announcements!"
