She Was the Treasure All Along novel Chapter 943

Sitting nearby, Gigi tugged gently at Emma's sleeve. Looking up with her sweet, clear voice, she said, "Grandma, I've known he was my daddy for a long time. When the mountain collapsed during the landslide, Daddy used his own body to shield Mommy. If it wasn't for Daddy, I wouldn't have a mommy anymore."

Gigi reached over and rolled up Hank's sleeve, revealing the horrific, jagged scar that stretched from the back of his hand all the way up his arm. "We should give Daddy a chance to apologize."

Hearing the little girl recount the terrifying disaster in Yarnwick City and seeing the gruesome scar, Emma's heart clenched.

The landslide had been all over the news. If Hank hadn't used his own flesh and blood to protect Giselle as they fell down that cliff, Emma truly wouldn't have her daughter today.

Despite the walls of resentment she had built, the pure innocence of her granddaughter and Hank's bone-deep sincerity finally began to crack her defenses.

Emma looked at the tall, earnest man, then at the worried faces of her daughter and granddaughter. Finally, she let out a long, heavy sigh.

That breath was filled with exhaustion, but also a sliver of resignation.

"Alright, enough of this heavy talk in front of the child," Emma said, looking away, her tone still somewhat stiff. "It's your life, you two need to figure it out. You don't need to hang on the words of an old woman."

She glanced toward the kitchen and gave Hank a gruff order.

"Since you're here, go to the kitchen and bring out the last two dishes. And don't expect me to serve you. If you want to eat, get your own plate and silverware."

Hank froze for a second before a spark of pure, unadulterated joy exploded in his dark eyes.

"I'll get them right now."

The calculating, untouchable billionaire practically scrambled toward the kitchen like an eager, clumsy teenager who had just been handed a piece of candy. Watching his slightly frantic but ecstatic back, the corners of Giselle's lips finally curved into a soft smile.

After dinner, Hank proactively washed the dishes while Giselle and Emma stood on the balcony.

"Are you really sure about this?" Emma asked, looking at her daughter.

"Gigi needs a strong father," Giselle replied.

"I'm asking about you," Emma clarified. "Have you truly decided to spend the rest of your life with him?"

Giselle lowered her eyes thoughtfully before looking back up. "I'm not blindly handing my life over again. Right now, I think this relationship is worth trying. If things don't work out in the future, I have the courage to start over, and I know Gigi will always understand and support me."
