Sabrina closed the file.
There was no need for her to intervene with the Lynn family—someone else was already taking care of things.
“Hester’s adoptive father is named Jude, and her adoptive mother is Faith. They also have a son.”
“According to their neighbors, no one knows Hester was adopted. Everyone just assumes she’s their real daughter. But…”
Bryce paused, shifting the conversation.
“No one seems to know where Jude and Faith have gone. Apparently, they moved away years ago, and my contacts haven’t managed to track them down.”
Sabrina understood. Since Hester was Sommer’s daughter, it made sense for her to orchestrate Octavia’s adoption of the girl.
Chances were, Hester wasn’t Desmond’s child at all.
But it still needed to be confirmed.
Desmond was out of town on business, and without a strand of his hair, Sabrina couldn’t run a DNA test.
What happened back then remained shrouded in mystery.
For Sommer to hide Hester’s birth from Desmond, she must have had help.
“What did you say Hester’s adoptive mother’s name was?” Sabrina asked. She thought she caught something familiar about the last name.
“Faith.”
“Last name Lynn!”
“Look into her connection with Sommer.”
“Don’t worry, I’ve already checked. That’s actually what I was about to tell you next.”
Bryce deliberately paused, glancing at the two women, obviously enjoying the suspense he was building. He took his time pouring coffee into three mugs, then picked one up and took a slow sip.
“Mmm, good coffee. You two should have some.”
“Oh, come on, Bryce! Are you doing this on purpose? Stop teasing us and just spit it out,” Stella huffed. She was hanging on every word, and now he was dragging things out on purpose.
