“So? Did he fall for it?”
Sabrina nodded. “Yes. He inhaled the scent. If nothing unexpected happens, he’ll be dead within twelve hours.”
“Are you sure about this? Is it really that powerful? Don’t let Stella fool you.”
He’d only ever read about such miraculous drugs in pulp detective novels; in real life, he’d never even heard of anything so lethal.
Stella shot him a look of utter disdain.
You could call her ugly, or useless, and she wouldn’t care. But question her medical skills? Unforgivable.
“You have no idea. I made this myself. As long as the scent reaches his nose, in three hours he’ll start… well, you know.”
She didn’t need to finish. The others understood perfectly.
Sabrina gave a cold, dismissive laugh.
“He’ll be out within the hour.”
No one was surprised.
Given the Watson family’s influence, there was no way he wouldn’t have someone looking out for him at the police station.
Once he was released, he’d be furious—maybe he’d go drinking, maybe he’d find a woman. Either way, both were dangerous.
Any surge of anger would trigger the poison, and the woman by his side would be in even greater danger.
Suddenly, Sabrina remembered something. “Last time you looked into the Lynns—did you find anything? And what about Hester’s adoptive parents? Any progress?”
Bryce took a sip of coffee, leaned back on the couch, and told Lyle to bring over the Lynn family’s files.
Soon, Lyle returned, several folders in hand.
“These are everything I’ve found. Take a look. Once you’re done, I’ll fill you in about Hester’s adoptive parents.”
Sabrina accepted the files and started reading carefully.
She already knew the Lynns weren’t clean.
But what she saw in these pages went far beyond her expectations.
Bryce glanced over at Sabrina.
“You don’t have to worry about the Lynns. I’ll find a way to take down Yosef. Scum like him shouldn’t even be called human.”
