She's Too Busy Winning to Watch Him Cry novel Chapter 120

"The front desk mentioned that Rowan authorized a thirty percent discount. That saved us a fortune. I completely forgot to thank him back there," Caleb said as he slid into the driver's seat.

"He punched you," Lyra reminded him dryly.

"I swung first. It's in the past. Honestly, it's generous enough that Commissioner Jameson didn't hold it against me."

Caleb pulled the car out of the driveway, casually adding, "You have to hand it to the Jameson Group, though. Even their front desk staff look like literal movie stars."

Lyra froze.

Caleb rarely complimented anyone's looks.

He had no idea that Josie would actually become a massive star.

Backed by Rowan's endless empire of elite resources, she would skyrocket to A-list status, becoming the absolute envy of the entire entertainment industry.

She was also the ultimate thorn in Jasmine's side.

Even when she was swimming in fame and fortune, to the point of casually turning down offers from Hollywood, she never once left Jameson Entertainment. Rumors ran wild that the reigning queen of the box office had secretly given her heart to Rowan.

Unfortunately, the outcome never changed.

He always chose Jasmine.

Whatever.

None of it had anything to do with her anymore.

Whether Jasmine or Josie ended up as Mrs. Jameson was completely irrelevant to her life.

Right now, Lyra's only goal was securing more patents.

She turned her gaze to the window, watching the blur of trees and traffic rush by. The thought of her brother and Kayla's impending wedding filled her with genuine warmth.

But the next day, Kayla called, asking if it was possible to switch the traditional round-table banquet to a buffet-style long-table reception.

In her past life, Kayla hadn't made a single demand. She had simply gone along with whatever the groom's side wanted, not even bringing up a wedding fund.

Taking the call, Lyra realized that Kayla had secretly wanted a long-table buffet all along.

In her past life, the Fairchild family hadn't treated her with the respect she deserved. But this time, they had gifted the couple a multimillion-dollar mansion and booked the most luxurious venue in Seaborne City. Feeling properly cherished, the normally shy bride finally felt comfortable enough to voice a small request.

Caleb naturally wanted to give her everything she asked for. Unfortunately, he had just left for a business trip, forcing him to delegate the task to his little sister.

"Lyra, you're going to have to run to the hotel again. I'm about to board my flight."

Compared to how she used to practically camp outside Rowan's office five days a week, this was unprecedented.

"I'll let him know you're here," Wesley managed to say.

He made a quick phone call, then gestured toward the elevators. "Miss Fairchild, right this way."

Lyra took the standard employee elevator up, just as she always had.

The moment the doors slid shut, the female employees in the lobby began whispering furiously. "Didn't Miss Fairchild have a massive falling out with Mr. Jameson? She hasn't been here in ages."

"I heard they completely severed ties."

"They never had anything going on to begin with. It's obvious Mr. Jameson has always been in love with Jasmine. He even created a position for her right outside his office."

"Exactly! And Jasmine is so nice. I mean, she isn't super bubbly, but she always acknowledges you when you speak to her. She doesn't act like she's better than everyone else."

"Well, she is the Philanthropy Ambassador. Obviously, she has a heart of gold."

Naturally, Lyra heard none of this idle gossip.

The elevator chimed as she arrived at the top floor.
