Mrs. Sterling blinked in surprise. "Oh, you all know each other..."
Realizing there was history there, she opened her mouth to smooth things over.
"Who would want to know her!" Madeline snapped. Their manicures were finished anyway. She pulled Lyra up from her seat. "Let's go. Breathing the same air as these people is just toxic. Such bad luck."
Jasmine didn't even have the bandwidth to care about Madeline's hostility right now.
As soon as they left, Jasmine grew quiet and immediately made a phone call, but it went straight to voicemail.
Mrs. Sterling was quick to read the room. Noticing Jasmine's subtle panic, she offered, "Miss Ford, if you're looking for inside information on Aura Beauty, I actually have a contact there."
Jasmine nodded tightly. "I would really appreciate that, Mrs. Sterling..."
It took some digging, but the truth finally surfaced. Aura Beauty looked glamorous on paper, but the core foundation was hollow. Their cash flow was incredibly tight, and their product reputation was struggling. The company desperately needed constant cash injections. Holding onto those early shares wasn't a guaranteed win at all.
Jasmine's face stiffened as she listened, refusing to give up hope. "But Aura Beauty's prospects look so promising. How could there be an issue?"
The contact on the other end sighed. "I'm just giving you a friendly warning. Don't wait until all your money is tied up and you can't pull out."
Jasmine froze. She couldn't afford a humiliating loss, especially not in front of Rowan. She absolutely refused to look like a failure in his eyes. She instantly canceled the rest of her manicure and left.
...
After stepping out, Madeline ordered them two healthy salads and turned to Lyra. "Is Aura Beauty actually going to tank?"
Lyra nodded. "Yeah."
"Then why couldn't you just hold back your smile?" Madeline groaned in frustration. "You practically tipped her off! Wouldn't it be better if she lost her investment?"
Lyra gave a sly grin. "Don't worry. The company only starts doing well after she sells off her initial shares."
In reality, Aura Beauty would eventually skyrocket to become a top player in the national cosmetics industry. Its market value would surge, transforming it into a publicly traded empire that no one dared to underestimate.
"Honestly... Jasmine actually has a good eye for investments."
Jasmine's cold, calculating rationality was actually somewhat admirable.
Rowan must have had his reasons for loving her, right?
Just then, Lyra's phone rang. She glanced at the screen—it was an unknown number.
She answered with a bright tone, "Hello?"
"It's Rowan. You—"
Lyra paused. "Don't know you."
She hung up coldly and immediately blocked the number.
Madeline, having no idea who was on the line, asked, "Where are you heading for the holidays this year?"
Lyra beamed. "We're going somewhere warm for the holidays. The whole family."
